Over the past year or so I’ve seen “chud” cross over from Chapo-adjacent online leftist spaces to general internet lingo. In the process it seems like the meaning has shifted though. To me it was a catch-all term for dumb and buffoonish right-wingers and fascists in general 
It seems in non-leftist usage chud is just the school shooter wojak and basically means “weird ugly unemployed redditor with mass murder fantasies and implied autism.” The chud is not worthy of scorn because of his far-right politics, but because he is cringe. The original political context of the word has been stripped and replaced by ableism

I always used to think that it’s in reference to the historical Chud peoples in the Baltics, given how many people in that region are fucking nazis. Then I learned it’s adverting to some bullshit Yankeestani movie instead.
I think that’s actually a great way to view it. Cannibalistic as in they don’t support others but consume them for self gain. Underground dweller, they purposefully separate from society. Humanoid, they look like a person but they lack actual humanity.
It’s really unfortunate that it sounds so much like chad so people just infer a new meaning, the old meaning at least had a unique use, we did not really need another term for an unattractive guy

I mean, incels are not always unattractive, and unattractive people are not always incels. Assuming by unattractive we mean conventionally physically unattractive and not, like, completely off-putting personality and beliefs. “Ugly” people are often attractive to somebody, so they may not end up incels. Or somebody likes them for who they are and not how they look. Meanwhile I’ve seen people I’d consider attractive who have thoughts and beliefs that make me wanna never interact with them.
Incels now call themselves chuds as a way to reclaim the term.

Everything changed when the chudjak dropped (originally known as “le /pol/face”, we had an emote of it but it got banned bc it was of the guy who committed a massacre at a walmart and/or went against the bodyshaming regulations), bc once ppl started actually calling it the chudjak (first jokingly, later sincerely) chuddiness was principally associated with being an annoying channer, with the political dimension being reduced to an undertone

You forget not everyone from /r/CTH came here, that sub was huge and hugely influential. Before the admins started attacking it there were times it hit the front page or near it. So it entered into rad-lib parlance and was floating around for a while IMO with increasing usage.

A lot of the times I have mostly seen chuds call themselves chuds as a badge of honor, of course some of it is to always show you’re unbothered…but on the rare occasion I have seen chud used to mean “loser”.
I’m all for it, I’m going to laugh if someone says “stop being a chud” to roast a friend online and some fashoid is screeching how that’s a “woke word”.
