Poroshenko was the guy who was made head of state in the wake of the color revolution (11 years ago), with Zelensky campaigning on a more conciliatory position and then pivoting in office (6 years ago). They are now vying for a third administration that definitely won’t betray them. Ukraine is like the South Korea of Eastern Europe at this point, speaking strictly in terms of political representation.
The “Orange Revolution” was to keep the corrupt Yanukovich from power who supposedly stole the election, only for their guy Yushchenko to be so corrupt and backstabbing his allies that Yanukovich became president after him anyway.

I think you’re asking about Bandera and the nazi stuff that seems like pulling out of his ass move, but no its a long term “project” i.e the US always planned and supported a “reserve” army of (neo)nazis that would be activated in case of a soviet invasion. In Ukraine there was no incentive after the USSR fall to fix or tackle’s Ukrainian far-right nazism. It was the same plan as before. They would be useful eventualy as a anti-Russian force in Ukraine.
