I remember once I talked a bit too slowly during a conversation (I was mentally checked out at the time) and the guy I was talking to took it as license to bully me over it for years after the fact. The day it ended was the day I moved. Interactions such as these were a regular part of my childhood and I don’t think I’ll ever fully unlearn the lessons they taught me.

This is considered pretty weird in most English speaking countries. Like I know it’s a huge problem and I still have a knee jerk “get the fuck away from me” reaction to most strangers trying to start a conversation.

You get a lot more random conversing and small talk in the South. I usually can’t walk around in my town without at least 5 or 6 people stopping me to chat for a sec. Going to a brewery here is like going to a highschool, everyone’s all cliqued up and knows each other.

That being said, there’s still tons of weird asd dudes who think that just because a woman said “how’s it going?” to them that it’s okay to start stalking them. Luckily word spreads fast lol
