  • Male Pattern Baldness is driven by DHT. If your testosterone is sufficiently suppressed by HRT then banding should completely stop progressing and most likely start reversing to a limited extent.

I think androgen receptor blockers like Bicalutamide might be ineffective in that regard though, and you’d have to add finasteride/dutasteride to block DHT conversion. Someone with more knowledge would have to chime in. Personally I’m doing monotherapy.

If you’re balding for other reasons, then HRT will most likely not stop it and you should investigate the underlying medical issue.

That said it’s perfectly normal to lose a bunch of hair when brushing or in the shower. Hair continuously falls out and regrows. It should only be concerning when that amount suddenly increases a lot.

  • your replies probably got deleted because you peddle medical misinformation, whether on purpose or not.

It doesn’t take advanced knowledge of human biology to note that the legal age of majority is fairly arbitrary and not based on any significant biological change. And while it is 18 in most jurisdictions for most purposes, it is not the same everywhere, again, because it is arbitrary. Any medical advice that uses that as a cut-off should immediately raise massive red flags. The fact that you casually ignore that is already concerning.

Then you say studies show that HRT is contraindicated for minors, which again, is incorrect. Studies show that HRT for trans adolescents reduces risk of depression and suicide:

If you were arguing in good faith you should probably reexamine your understanding of a bunch of things. And maybe use a search engine yourself before telling others to do so.

  • There is no biological reason to choose 18 as a cut-off. It is entirely a product of how our societies are structured. Without that specific structure where 18 is considered legal maturity that age would not be chosen as a cut-off.

As such this is not a medically motivated recommendation, but a legally motivated one. And as such this recommendation is not in the patient’s best medical interest. It’s the medical professionals covering their asses.

    It’s medical malpractice.

  • That’s what I noticed first. Then I had my first ugly crying for the first time in like 20 years. Was really upset and cried for half an hour.

Then I noticed how when I watch something really funny I have a strong physical reaction, not just laughing.

And recently I was watching the Tom Scott video where he went paragliding and at some point noticed that my mouth was wide open in awe. I closed it and after a few minutes noticed it was open again.

Honestly, this alone made HRT more than worth it for me.

Like, it’s like I’m no longer just observing life, I’m actually experiencing it.
