Qanon is both alive and dead. It’s alive in that every person has their own personally curated algorithm feeding them conspiracy theories, each more specific and confusing than the last. It was bound to happen eventually because nothing tied Qanon together politically other than being a gullible conservative dipshit. I also have to imagine a lot of its fiercest adherents were very elderly or in poor health, so a bunch of them probably didn’t survive covid. So what’s left over is people who were already conspiracy minded but Qanon was simply one of the things that they believe.

Qanon is dead in that conservatives kept running into the problem that everything they love: American empire, the capitalist class, Donald Trump, are all inexorably linked to Jeffrey Epstein. So conservatives now associate accusations of pedophilia with liberal fear mongering.

Nah, the thing about these sorts of conspiracy theories is the “we have to protect the children” thing is always an excuse to just behave like an asshole. Any Q-anoners left are firmly in the pro-pedo camp now, it was never actually about protecting children and always just letting them feel good about their own pathetic lives.

I had an online conversation with a right wing weirdo recently. I asked him if he disavows billionaire pedophiles. It ended with me asking if he was a pedo. He had a lot to say and none of it was “no”.

Whenever I go for a walk I pass by a truck that has a “shoot your local pedophile” bumper sticker and I begin to strongly suspect that this is a case of the lady doth protest too much.

It’s what Parenti would call an unfalsifiable orthodoxy. If you go around saying all pedophiles should be shot people will either agree with you or say “hey maybe chill out.” And then you can just call that second group pedo sympathizers. You win either way. It’s the most secure non-position you can possibly take while simultaneously signaling political allegiance.

Most of the time when people are talking about pedophiles as if pedophiles are a coordinated group you can oppose, people don’t mean Epstein and co, they mean queer people.

it basically never fails. being obsessed with pedophilia, or homosexuals, or transgenderism means there’s some personal issue they’re shadow-projecting because otherwise why are you thinking about it so much bro

yeah, absolutely. certainly didn’t mean to imply equivalence. just that making it your whole personality is… pretty weird.

also on the theme of this thread they tend to be really bad at directing anger at those actual billionaires, because they’re on team R.

And how a lot of queerphobia is down to repressed identities and fetishization.

Lots of fascists love “girl dick”. Dear god so many of them sexualize trans women.

Also idk about anyone else, but you’d think if you’re sexually attracted to something/someone you’d atleast want them to like… Not get killed?

Ahh yeah, that’s your problem right there. You’re thinking like a well adjusted person with empathy.

A lot of people… think a little differently. Worryingly there are people (mostly men) who truly hate the objects of their sexual desire. They would very much like to hurt and cause harm to them as well as use them for their sexual gratification. I don’t know why, I’m not a psychologist, but it’s a real phenomenon.

I don’t think it was ever sincere to begin with but I think the day it fully died was the day Trump talked about leniency for Maxwell, the corpse is just wriggling at this point, all plausible deniability is beyond gone. Blown to the bedrock.

Q got absorbed into the general culture and has thus become universalised. Everyone is Q now. Everyone has their own boutique paranoid conspiracy. Everyone is isolating themselves and dissolving their social bonds while “doing research” to find a Hollywood-like plot to rationalise why submitting to a terroristic surveillance state is good and based, akshually.

easily verifiable knowledge of non-mainstream narratives seem to be a powerful tool for knocking people out of their complacency; but the rise of the fake leftists like platner or el sayed prove how easily it can red pill people like qanon if they don’t have all of the needful background understanding.

  • I finally got around to watching the “Q: into the storm” documentary, and had to turn it off. Everything about the “movement” is so obviously co-opted from the jump that it was just maddening to watch. Hats off to organizers in rural areas who try and educate folks. There seem to be so many people who are close to getting it (dialetical materialism), but isolated fanaticism fanned by capitalist atomization is just too magical to turn down.

When I look at what happened to QAnon, I at least feel a little bit better about what happened to BLM. Corporatized and commodified to remove any power or influence it could possibly have. I guess at least they do it to each other too and not just to us.

It’s still so fucking wild that Trump got elected for his second term as the anti pedophile president and immediately after everyone learned about his close ties to Epstein. How did this only blow up after Trump getting elected president two times with a 4 year break.

      That’s my loose change.

Honestly seems like no one really cares Trump is a “removed”

Okay, I’m all for the slur filter, but not being able to call him what he is seems to whitewash what he did. It erases the fact that Trump is a sexual criminal.

I don’t think highly about the American voter but I feel like that might still have made a difference had it come out like half a year before the vote instead of the muller she wrote nonsense.

no it’s not dead cause there are still people who think Democrats hid children in a pizza place and that Trump isn’t a pedo. Republicans in many states constantly say no to making child marriage legal, cause they want to fuck children. To the Democrats credit, seems like they mostly had infidelity and sex worker issues.

Not just Republicans. Think about how long California has been considered a “progressive” state, and it is one of three states to have no legal minimum age for marriage.
