(for anyone confused, he’s guessing her prescription)

FYI, Dr. Glaucomflecken is an ophthalmologist and has a YouTube channel full of medical comedy bits. I’d link it but I’m too tired from writing and triple-checking “Glaucomflecken” and “ophthalmologist”.

I started my contacts journey at +7.5 and +7.75. I’ve been in +3.00 and +3.25 for about 10 years now. No one knows why I dramatically got better in 3 years but that was a wild 3 years of not really being able to see because it was changing so much.

Jesus, I didn’t think they made contacts that thick. On the bright side, those bad boys could probably stop a direct hit from a nail gun before it hit your eye. I bet it’s like wearing permanent safety glasses.

As far as I know only one company does, so uh, hope you like them because it’s that or glasses thick as a submarine window. Even with the -16 I can still only get to 20/50 vision thanks to the early onset cataracts caused by the extreme myopia. Is what it is though, I don’t complain.

That sucks. I’m sorry you have to deal with all that. Sounds like you have a good attitude about it at least

I appreciate the consideration. Honestly, I can see better now than in my 20s thanks to years of conscious effort to train my brain to use that eye too. When I finally got a vision test at around five years old, I was already pretty bad off in the one eye, but the other was fine at the time, so my brain just kind of learned to use it for peripheral vision and not much else. Hopefully I don’t get macular degeneration or a detached retina, but what can you do but make the best of it? Take care out their folks, and get your kids eyes checked!

And alas, though he tries to guide others to medical truths, the damage is already done and in one fell swoop he has been cursed to ‘die alone’

He has made some hilarious videos about being a doctor, for those who don’t know who he is. Can highly recommend

What a prick. As if he could tell from that picture how attractive she is anyway, she’s not dressed in a revealing way, which is a suggestion to not talk about her looks like that.

Hes talking about her glasses but like, on the subject of people actually making comments like you’ve misunderstood him to be doing, people aren’t more deserving of crappy comments on their bodies based on how they dress 😅

Either give someone a non-dickhead compliment in a context where its appropriate or keep your thoughts to yourself. Learning to understand what kinds of compliments don’t carry a feeling of entitlement to their time and reciprocation for the person receiving them is a skill, but its an important one thats worth doing. And It’s important to remember that person doesnt owe you any attention or positivity back for the fact you chose to comment on them

(Much of this isnt really purely a reply to you teyrnon, not trying to single you out, just saw the opportunity to address the way we comment on people and expand on the idea that the way people dress doesnt mean folks are entitled to interacting with them in a way that sucks for the person being commented on)

Okay, so he’s an ophthalmologist, and he’s talking about what her potential prescription for her glasses might be.

It is easily misread as a misogynist measurement of her beauty, and he recognizes that and acknowledges it. It wasn’t what he meant. Hence, the meme.

I don’t think you need to see any body to tell that she has a pretty face, just to counter your implied “there’s no way to know for sure whether or not she’s that ugly and it’s rude to point it out while she’s dressed like that”.
