No one who says that really thinks this way. They just do this whole fear-mongering thingie, because they know that most cis people have some level of disgust towards us (either because of our bodies directly or because of the fact that we disrupt their pure, cisnormative world), which enables them to openly abuse us without facing any consequences if they just hold up a thin veneer of civility over their rancid faces.

Y’know, as someone married to a trans woman and dates another, this caustic excuse for a human being has showed how many people in my life would show their ass if given the chance. The amount of family members that could look past the “author” and see the “art” and ignore her shitty politics were far too many. They aren’t in my life anymore. They can all go drown in their own piss.

Its always disappointing to me how many people can separate art from artist and insist on doing so. Sometimes it makes me question if I’m a weirdo for being so adamant about dropping shitty creators, but then I think “nah, fuck em.”

art is an expression of self so separating the art from the artist is impossible, and those people who insist otherwise are full of it

jk rowling’s books have her shitty politics written all over them and it isn’t even subtle

I do find it a little iffy for me. There are ones like HP where I was suuuper into it up through college, but have since stopped giving money to anything associated with Rowling and kinda just ignoring those books and movies entirely or thing like lostprophets where despite liking a lot of their songs, I can’t listen to them at all anymore knowing what the lead singer was about.

But then you’ve got bands like Anti-flag where one of their singers was, while not as bad as lostprophets, still quite bad, but yet I still throw on their albums when I read political news that makes me angry. Not sure what to do about that one, maybe it’s because there’s another singer so it’s not strictly Justin’s voice all the time, I dunno.

The one exception for me is Kasabian. The lead singer was completely shafted from the band and even cut off from their finances, so I have no issue continuing to listen to them.

Apart from those kinds of fringe cases, I can live without their work.

My “this looks gay (derogatory), better avoid it” mentality from my youth may have caused me a lot of pain and made me a pain to be around, but it also somehow helped me dodge a bullet by dismissing HP as cringe and never getting into it.

When the game came out, I was still fairly ignorant. I thought she was more passively hateful, like said hateful things but didn’t do much about it. Then the game had shorty shitty politics and I learned that she actively funds hate groups and shit and realized the real evil going on. Haven’t supported her (to my knowledge) since.

EDIT: autocorrect got me. I don’t care how tall your politics are

JK herself had ties with Epstein too. Epstein was known to hate lgbtq+ people, specially trans people.

Sonia Friedman, Colleen Callander, and Rowling collectively invited Epstein to the opening of the Cursed Child, years after he was already convicted of procuring a child for prostitution. Rowling also recently invited Prince Andrew to the set of the HBO show. again, years after everyone knew he was a significant part of the epstein files. Rowling’s claim of protecting girls and women are hollow. She invites the most evil people, who actively traffick and assault girls and women, and gives them access.

I think so, iirc he was in talks with some biologist guy, and said he wanted the guy to “investigate” and dehumanize transpeople. Epstein was linked to basically every bad and evil person from the 1990s - early 2010s.

She spends chapters of her childrens book making fun of a girl for trying to end chattel slavery of elves. A girl who she then retconned as Black in her spinoff play.

People who separate art from the artist really don’t want to recognize the art either.

The book ends with Harry becoming a cop and a slave owner.

The establishment blatantly discriminating against people who aren’t wizards or different species is never addressed, everything just goes back to the status quo and all is well.

No wonder liberals are so obsessed with it.

“Ah, well, it’s different. All those little girls that say they’re boys are just manipulated into it. But I’m a grown adult who knows how things work, and I know what’s right for me.”

(Honestly, it’s hard for me to see the kind of spiky transmasc egg who believes in “womanhood is suffering” and “it’s just grownups manipulating young tomboys” rhetoric continuing to believe it after his egg cracks. But I’m sure it could happen, and case-in-point on today’s post is an AFAB individual who presents as a woman, so.)

“Okay, yes, every other so called trans woman is just a lying pervert, but I’M a real woman!”

(This one, unfortunately, is depressingly common.)
