I will never get over the fact that in the Netherlands it’s somewhat common for the tenant to take the floor with them when they move out.

Dutch landlords are so cheap your lucky if you don’t have to reclaim the land from the sea yourself.
What if we took it to the extreme, instead of just having our own flooring, what if we also had our own walls, ceiling, plumbing, etc? Like, imagine a sort of large box that we put on a piece of land with all the parts pre-assembled and already in there? Not sure what to call it. Then we own that and live in it, instead of walking around with pieces of floor tiling to reinstall in another place owned by someone else. Just a thought

I know in Germany the renter often takes the cupboards and counters with them too. It’s not uncommon to come into a place with just a stove and a fridge in the kitchen.
In the US if you install anything in the rental, the landlord just kinda gets to own it. This is why I never make renovations or fix anything in a rental on my own dime.
The fridge comes with the apartment, the cupboards do not
It makes sense from the standpoint that moving a fridge up/down stairs is a hassle, but this is deeply funny to me for some reason.
I feel like moving an oven or fridge up and down the stairs is way easier than taking out and moving a bunch of cupboards that are attached to the wall

I can 100% confirm this from my experience in social housing. Same goes for the fucking lamps, which I found worse.
