…and gets 30% in one county

    very scary

It’s shameful there’s not already a prosecution and ban process in progress.

The implication was that Germans don’t have any sense of humor. It seems that you’ve done nothing to disillusion us of that trope.

Nein, der Witz ist, dass Deutsche keinen Humor hätten. Das ist aber nur trizen und nicht ernst gemeint.

In dem Fall ist’s fast noch witziger, weil du den Witz erst genommen hast. Nimm das nicht übel. ^^

I don’t like it when people throw stereotypes around whenever they get the opportunity. You sound like you internalized the stereotype and find it funny

A friend had his American friend come to visit him last year and they had me over to chill.

At some point he told a joke that didn’t land and excused himself over nothing. So I said, completly straight faced, “Oh, I’m sorry, that was really funny, this is just how we laugh around here”.

It was probably funnier in the moment, but the next ten minutes was me trying to keep a straight face while he was trying to get me to laugh. We were both in on the joke and it was hysterical.

Like, this is by all means a dumb stereotype. But it’s pretty harmless. And if you laugh at it, it literally disproves itself.

No. The average AfD voter will scream in your face and call you a liar and spreader of fake news when you read them verbatim from the AfD’s program. It’s the exact same as for all the other far-right cults where sanity has left the building a long time ago.

It is known. That is why 30% of the German people want them in power. Old habits.

And that is precisely why its neighbors should view Germany’s rearmament with suspicion.

I don’t know if this was your intention, but “with suspicion” reads like "it’s being done for the AfD rather than “with concern” which would be read like not for the AfD but with potential effect/gain for the AfD. At least I read it like that.

If the AfD remains this popular, it is more likely that the German armed forces will be used in the near future to help Russia than to defend Europe against a new Russian invasion.

Or the future French armed forces under their extreme right-wing party. Also the extreme extreme right wing in Poland (Konfederacja) would help Russia. Trust nobody.

As for the French, it may well be true that the RN is capable of winning the next elections, yes. But Poland’s Konfederacja is still far from attaining power.

Yes, after the Germans and the Russians, they are the ones with a track record of causing severe damage across vast areas of the European continent in the relatively recent past.

The last major war Portugal had to fight defensively on its own soil was during the Napoleonic invasions. We have not forgotten.

Indeed, it is France we need to watch out for. AfD and Konfederacja are both far from attaining power. AfD and Konfederacja will never have a majority or is unlikely find coalition partners.

don’t take these polls to serious, remeber those who are unhappy are most willing to participate and voice their anger, and the AfD party is 99% anger. Normal people will just ignore pollsters, so the real number is hopefully lower
