~pretend that ending bit makes sense, i had to clip a bit to fit in the character limit~

But yeah ive had my ups and my downs being thin, sometimes decent, sometimes too thin, and it just feels like i should at least give being larger a go ig even if i don’t like it at all. Maybe this just stems from finding somewhat heavier set guys pretty attractive.

Along with most of society treating you worse, there are a lot of health issues you can get, especially by forcing yourself to be much heavier than your natural inclination. Maybe build more muscle instead? You’ll probably gain some fat regardless, but you’ll surely be healthier.

yeah eat as well as you can, and make sure you exercise, but also keep in mind stuff like BMI was created with racist intentions, the number being low doesnt always correlate with “being healthy”

  • As someone who has been BIG and all the way down to a “healthy” weight for my height, being big isn’t great.

I was pushin’ 500 lbs and wore a size 54 in Carhartts at my biggest. About 190 and a 32 in Carhartts at my smallest. Hovered mostly between 200 and 210 the last decade and technically I’m a little overweight but this size feels best to me. I have a not insignificant amount of muscle, and I probably hover between 15-18% body fat.

I truly think it’s best to have decent muscle mass, be really active, and slightly “overweight.” The best part about being slightly overweight and active as hell is eating. I LOVE food. It’s part of why I was so fat. Peak summer I’m eating ballpark 4-5000kcal/day, losing weight, and in friggin heaven. I’m strong, and have good cardio, I look decently muscular, but I’m not so big that clothes fit weird. More importantly, I have enough body fat that if I ever get sick or injured the calorie reserves are a boon. I’m not carrying so much extra weight that I’m impacted in any meaningful way.

When I was skinny fat I was a weak little weenie and honestly that really sucked. Like, at least when I was fat fat I was kinda strong. Plus you don’t eat much when you’re skinny annd inactive and I love food.

gaining weight helped my dysphoria honestly, also learning how to push myself, build endurance, and exert my strength / strength training. It also gave me injuries, something to be careful of 😅

my 2 cents, getting a bit of chub might be good for you but “rather fat” sounds like grass greener; presuming no eating disorders it might be the way you are is just your natural rhythm and straying too far from it would need a bunch of effort

  • How thin are you rn? You can probably pull off the gourmand archetype. I know he’s more muscular than thin, but take Carmy from The Bear He nails the chef look.

Other than that, it sounds to me like you might be interested in a wardrobe change. Take it from someone who’s skinnyfat, I’m still insecure of having too much fat, but by leaning into a redneck archetype just a little bit, I’ve contextualized it and pulled off a real look. I highly recommend pinterest for this, gaining fat can take some time, but looking up “outfits for skinny people” and making note of what you like and don’t will make the most of your body type.

    • Also leaning into the redneck archetype myself (helps that I’m also born and raised white trash) and if you don’t overcook it, it can look real good. Not saying you should dress inauthentically either, but it does help lend some credibility when working/organizing any white working class folks.

It also helps scare away the libs. Just sayin.

I’ve spent most my life bouncing around the levels that are just about classed as underweight with like bmi 18, in the last year or so I’ve got up to like 19 to 19.5. Last time i got on a scale i was 55kg and roughly 5’7"

Grass is greaner but it reallly just depends on your body and where it puts on fat

If you’re unlucky, you’ll get 20 lbs of blubber on your face while your forearm looks like that of a holocaust of victim

Personally trying to gain weight right now after losing a lot of weight during drug/alcohol addiction. At my lowest, I was 120lbs and I’m 5’10. My heaviest, I was 220lbs. When I was 220lbs, I worked in a kitchen that gave me unlimited free food and I’d have like 3 free meals in a shift because I’m always hungry. Now I’m 160lbs after losing a bunch of water weight from quitting my anti-psychotic. I also don’t have consistent access to food anymore because food prices went up, although I’m hoping having a new case manager that takes me to food pantries will help me out.

One thing I noticed is when I was heavier I had better temperature regulation. I used to be able to clean a walk in and it was no big deal. Now I’m freezing going into a walk in for a few seconds. I can’t stand the wind because it makes me so cold

yeah, bigmaxxing. I’ve been contemplating it too. I’ve heard that gaining fat can have some irreversible consequences but idk… it seems like I’d feel good being like 300lbs give or take.
