At least you have half the day to prepare. I’m in Korea. I wake up to the dumb shit daily. I’ve taken to avoiding news entirely…
And waking up to another insain story from the clownhouse …
Yep
Try living in the American cesspool. I have to struggle every day to not kill myself.
Last shroom trip I had I was so heavily convinced to kill myself that not having a gun is all that stopped me.
This is why the statistic on gun ownership and suicide is so true, also please find some cool tripsitters before you do this again
I was convinced that death would not be my end, that I would survive the destruction of my body and continue on, unaffected by the world, no longer apart of it.
In a sober mindset, I know that’s bullshit, there is no afterlife.
Not to make you second guess yourself but it always trips me up when people say they know that there is no post death experience. It seem gnostic.
The shrooms statement could be true for some perspectives and is impossible to proof either way. The idea can be used practically, to understand that death is nothing to worry about and even comfortable can make it easier to live life in the moment. But i have no idea why a healthy person would seek it out because it’l happen on its own for everyone anyway. Might as well live out the magic of this reality now as i experience it.
Not to make you second guess yourself but it always trips me up when people say they know that there is no post death experience. It seem gnostic.
I hate to break it to ya, but I’ve tried Chaos Magick, Buddhism, Christianity, and New Age… and all the time, it felt like I was lying to myself. That I was desprately clinging on because I was so afraid of death. But the truth is, there is no God.
I really want there to be a God, but our universe is well documented and contains no sign of design or purpose. Life was not created, it evolved, and I’m not so sure it was a good idea to develop conciousness. What cruelty is it to give life to something that knows it is destined to die, the universe is a harsh mistress.
Mankind has dreamed of a light we go into after death, to seek an even greater purpose and fulfillment than we had in life, but it is just a dream. Neurology has proven conciousness is all in the brain, once the brain goes, so do you. How I wish I could live the “life” of a spirit, unattached from the world and unable to be harmed by it; free to go where I want and do what I will.
Believing in magic made sense in the Bronze Age, but in the modern day we have measured and labeled the things of the world, and not a drop of that inventory includes the mystical.
I wish I could offer an empty platitude about how life has more meaning because it’s finite, or how the wonders of the natural world are good enough. I’d be lying if I did however.
The Universe is eternal, matter and energy are never truly created or destroyed, it merely changes form. Our conciousness however, is an exception to this, it started when we were born and it will end with our death. The universe is eternal, but we are temporary.
I take no joy in telling you this, but it is a horror that we must learn to accept.
No worried, i am agnostic, spiritual but not at all religious.
I wouldn’t recommend to put much actual trust in any of the human myths you previously studied
I am asking because, i find it noteworthy that within atheism you are still clinging to gnosticism.
Gnostic means you believe something and seem absolutely certain about it.
Agnostic means you are inclined to believe some things, under the knowledge that you could be wrong.
When you say you know how most of the universe is infinite, but then consciousness is without any actual proof an exception to this, then i would interpret that as a religious belief of some kind.
Anyway there are a near infinite ways to interpret reality. To me everything appears emerged from a singular point that factually expanded into many smaller things that can then interact with eachother, from which more interactions emerge till at some point all possible interactions between all possible things have occurred. I call this maximalisation of reality and it came from the tough experiment of if i had infinite space, time and knowledge what would do with it all. The answer was to experience that all. Good, bad, no judgement or goal, just all.
You don’t need to concern yourself with that neither do i suggest you take it as truth but you seem like an open minded person and i think the concept of agnostic spirituality could serve as an inspiration to enhance your view of life without having to pick a fixed truth you cant deviate from.
The problem with being agnostic, is that there really isn’t any reason to be.
There is no room for anything supernatural in any model of the universe that is taken seriously.
The field of Parapsychology has existed for over a hundred years and has never produced any results that cannot be explained by fraud, chance, or experimental error.
The field of Creation Science has existed for half as long and yet institutions that claim to represent it have no data that comes anywhere near to poking a hole in evolution, justifying a young earth, or most importantly providing any evidence for the hypothesis that the world seems designed by an omnipotent creator.
Instead they just cherry pick qoutes from real scientists and go “naw uh”
We consistently see that anyone with a supernatural explanation for anything in the universe is a charlatan at worst or naive at best.
This is consistent.
Everytime someone tries to prove God they use the same three arguments which fail every time.
-
Arguing that creation must have a creator - We can demonstrate that the world doesn’t need a creator nor does it appear designed
-
Arguing that morals come from God - Morals do not come from God, one is perfectly able to have morality without God. The morality we have is not even consistent with what the Bible teaches as the Bible says Slavery is good and so is Misogyny, yet in every developed nation people tend to think these are not ideals one should strive for.
My morality is very subjective. It is based on the idea that causing harm is wrong, unless
The act of harm creates a greater good than not harming another. This includes forcing medication on someone who needs it but doesn’t want it or defending oneself from an attacker. While my premise “Do no harm” seems objective, the exceptions are subjective. And there must be exceptions because Do No Harm is itself wrong in specific scenarios.
- It is written in a sacred text that references real world history - 9/11 is a canon event in the Marvel Universe and New York is a real place, yet we do not see support for Thor’s existence.
I would love for the spiritual to be true, but unfortunately the supernatural is a non-starter and admitting that is just a part of growing up.
I see a lot of myself in you friend. I too desperately clinged to an agnostic world view, hoping materialism was wrong and that if I just kept an open mind the wonders of the spiritual would appear before me.
I hate to say it, but you don’t walk away with a smile on your face at the end of the rainbow.

Quantum suicide implies there is a reality where you found the gun. Killed yourself and then your consciousness, who was in superposition of all realities continues in this branch of reality where you did not find a gun.
If Quantum Immortality was real, I’d kill myself again and again until I was in a universe where Trump wasn’t the president.
Sadly: Quantum Mysticism is as bullshit as regular mysticism
If you indulge me the theoretical Thought experiment (i love these)
You wouldn’t know it was real at any point of doing it, and when you end up in the new universe you won’t retain knowledge from this one, you might even wake up in the universe where you never had this idea.
You might live in a universe without Trump but You also wouldn’t know who Trump is. But then if only you could live in a universe where Musk was not the president you would kill for that.
Seems like a waste, your leader will need cannon fodder for the front lines soon. /s
Native New Yorker here.
He was a part of the local media here forever. In his home town he’s hated by the rich, the poor, the middle class, and everyone else.
We tried to warn people.
Who cares? Lol
Clearly you considering you posted this lmao
And responded to them
I just want politics to go back to being boring and barely in the news. I want to never hear from leaders except at their regularly alotted time.
As much as Biden was an ineffective, geriatric capitalist, at least I didn’t have to give a shit about what he was doing day to day.
We had that a couple years ago, it was so nice
During Trump’s first term, I identified this as the number one most annoying thing about Trump. That you don’t want the world’s biggest attention whore as president.
And the only good thing about Trump was that he didn’t actually do the job. He just watched TV and called into Fox News and took extended golfing holidays.
I still cannot comprehend how people seemed to forget this during Biden’s term, when you could actually go a week or more without hearing about the president.
They wanted a meme president (again) and they got a meme president (again). Those uneducated mouth breathers love it and want more of it. Forget governing, just own the libs bruh
This is partly why I’m alright with Keir Starmer being my Prime Minister.
Yes, I recognise my privilege, and yes, I recognise that other people are likely suffering because of his government’s policies. But there’s not a huge amount that I personally can do to change the government’s minds, and it was much, much worse under The Fucking Tories.
So for my own mental health I’m taking the view that it’s quite nice to not open the news sites and see nothing but nastiness and horror. Until I browse the world news section, that is.
When “conservatives” are in office: “well, you should’ve voted for liberals, they are easier to sway towards progressive policies than conservatives”
When “liberals” are in office: “well, there’s not much I personally can do to change the government’s minds”
Please, tell me what exactly I can do to force a change of mind in the current government?
Here’s the thing, you’re right, you individually can’t directly influence the current government because it is only answerable to a class you don’t belong in, the capitalists. The only way to change things for the better is to organize with your fellow proletariat and change the class dynamics enough such that the government is answerable to your class, whether through a revolution or a credible threat of one. A good way to start is to read some theory, join a union at your workplace if there is one, and join a local socialist/communist party - they will have both the resources and the ideas on what to do next.
People are watching trump rip apart the modern world status quo and disrupt any sense of remaining international law, yet still want to vote for Farage next election.
We are undoubtedly cooked as a generation
“First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.” Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will.”
The problem is is that American populist politics has bled over to everywhere else and if you aren’t flooding the zone with shit every five minutes then you may as well be invisible.
Labour are shit at social media and messaging. They’re too old fashioned. Deform are rather well adept at it.
Being Canadian is the same, just that we have that shit during our entire goddamned day
Bonus points if you’re unfortunately Albertan 🙃 🔫
Plz just nuke us
I get you!
I dunno. America is making the European extreme right a lot more emboldened.
The only thing stopping them making a clean sweep in the UK is they’ve split into factions and none of them can agree on anything other than a rabid hatred of anything foreign.
me: starts packing
landlord: “what where you going”
me: shows him this post
landlord: “oh can I come with you”
Nah, Europe is complicit in genocide in Gaza. There’s no “coherency and peace” before 5pm here either.
And the EU has been on a roll recently with threatening privacy with chat control, net neutrality, rising right-wing politics in many countries. We’re not a mini america yet, but let’s not pretend it’s all roses and unicorns here, there is a lot of fighting still to be done.
Our police force is drowning people in the Mediterranean.
Right, so if I look up politics in the UK I’ll see that everything’s ‘pretty excellent?’
Quite the opposite at the moment
UK is serious country, with minded politicians, not a circus.
Yea, I forgot Liz.
- The Leave Referendum, Brexit negotiations and the actual Brexit.
- Pretty much every single day of the government of Boris Johnson.
- All the shit that came out in the Snowden Revelations about the “worse than the Stasi” level of civil society surveillance UK .
- The causes and handling of the 2008 Crash in Britain.
- The British participation in the second Iraq War which was amongst other things deemed Pillage (a war crime) in the report from the Comission on the Iraq War and the subsequent absence of accountability of British decision makers involved.
- The current government arresting people as “Terrorist supporters” for demonstrating against the Gaza Genocide.
- The pure propaganda BBC coverage on the Gaza War.
- The entire Corby “anti-semitism” slander campaign including the pure propaganda BBC coverage as well as the time they basically called a Jewish Holocaust Survivor an anti-semite to try and slander Corbyn by association.
- The ongoing crackdown on the right to demonstrate since at least 2010.
These are just the biggest ones (not including the long-running shit-show called The Royal Family). Plenty of smaller insane shit can be found in British newspapers quite regularly.
British politicians haven’t been serious and minded for at least 2 decades, probably more.
Great image management and projection of a posh image, whilst totally taking the piss out of just about everybody but a handful of people in their making of policy.
And BoJo! XD
lol, and they say americans are delusional
As demonstrated with Brexit.
Only if you ignore the crazy haired man that rugby tackles Japanese children.
In my part of the world we get Trump’s social diarrhea for breakfast.
Being in the mountain timezone, a couple hours behind Washington DC, I get to enjoy waking up every morning to a fresh new hell.
West coast checking in. I hate opening my eyes and the first thing I wonder is what fresh portal to hell opened while I slept.
At least you can start drinking when they’re posting and no one calls you an alcoholic.
“are you drinking again?” Checks the news “ooh I see” goes away like nothing happened.
Thinks back to the heady days when the Vice President misspelled potato.
