I feel like this isn’t that unrealistic to be honest. I’ve been training for a few years and had multiple strangers comment positively and out of the blue on my training. I’m nothing special either, I think there are just nice people out there.

Apparently no one on lemmy has called them out for positive behavior. I’ve had many people compliment me on things I never knew they were observing.

At my last job I sat in the back with the devs, but I could often hear one of the tech support guys. Having trained customer service people at a couple of jobs, I know what a solid rep sounds like.

“Hey Mike! I’m not listening to you on purpose, but I here your calls now and again. I used to train people for this and you are top notch. You talk to clients like they’re an acquaintance calling for help, not customer #132 for the day.”

He about fell out his chair. (After his division was unavoidably closed, he got a job with one of those clients. Turns out hard work pays in the end.)

Ah! Can’t remember the circumstances, but a coworker I hardly knew once said, “Hey man. Just want you to know I see you $doing_whatever and always $acting_however and I think it’s great. You inspire me to do better.”

I was fucking flabbergasted. “I, uh, what? How do you even know me?!”

tl;dr: People notice hard work even if they’re too shy to say so.

I really hope that more people can experience this. People complementing me in the gym definitely inspired me to pay it forward despite my shyness recently and I’m going to try and do more of it.
