At the same time, I can’t help but think of the Felix line, which is that Zionists should not even be allowed to be the local dogcatcher, as even that is too much state power to give a Nazi.

I guess she’s looking for a position on Zohran’s media team after he’s elected, lol.

This is actually a free press article. Which you’d think would give Mamdani pause, that the free press is discussing his softening towards zionism. How hard is it to say “my administration will include many people with many political viewpoints, but those who express support for genocide will not be welcome”?

He’s shown he is very willing to dodge questions with the “he’s mayor of New York line,” saw him do it today when asked if Hamas should disarm. Makes me chuckle when people say he has to say this in any capacity considering he definitely was going to win without it.

if he isn’t willing to fight the NYPD and get them under control (massive cuts in size and funding and changes in personnel) then it’s a joke. He’s not gonna accomplish shit. The NYPD are a cartel that run NYC top to bottom. They won’t let you change anything. What a fucking joke this all is. Not addressing the elephant in the room that is running rampant and killing everyone to tidy up and organize a shelf. Succs be like “but an organized shelf in a room of splattered corpses is less bad, so you have to vote for the lesser evil and reduce harm. If he says anything bad about the elephant it will kill him too”

Ah great, this is amazing. Sounds like a real good strategy we picked then!

i don’t think the NYPD has strong opposition to cheaper groceries and more efficient busses? i’m as tired as the next guy but he ran on a budget freeze at most. it makes no sense to attack the guy for falling short of some ideal he never espoused when we have perfectly awful things where he actually has betrayed himself from four months ago.

They are absolutely in collusion with the landlord class and business owner class, capital exerts control over the NYPD and they are larger than many nations armies. The levels of patronage and bribery of the NY Judicial System + NYPD is on a scale of a major military base occupying the city, comparable to Baghdad during occupation. You just don’t get anything done they don’t want done.

my bloomer side hopes he’s lying

my doomer side knows this is an unforced error at this point and worries he’s going to go full obama.

only time will tell what actually happens in NYC. i will grant that he was reasonably defensive of arresting netanyahu if given the opportunity on fox news. i will also grant that there’s not much explicit foreign policy power endowed in the position “mayor of NYC.” i don’t have much general hope for wouldbe politicians not working as part of a vanguardist movement though.

I was kind of hoping he’d at least get elected before pulling the rug. In any case hope he enjoys losing his activist base for the election.

Can’t wait for all the “but I promise DSA is actually a good organization” people to come defend this one. I will apologize for this post only if the DSA kicks him out and revokes all endorsements or support.

They do, of course, have the ability to reject and condemn him for buddying up with Zionists. Denounce and then rethink their strategies because they keep fucking up and cannot do proper internal criticism or vetting of their “electeds” nor their electoral strategu, instead allowing their more liberal members to self-serve through paid electoral posts.

I heard they had a vote for anti-zionism, as in all of DSA. If they were cool, the NYC DSA would be purged or seized by actual anti-zionists since they’re kinda the more lib factions of the DSA.

This is the free press so I’ll take it with a grain of salt, but if it is true, THE BASIC litmus fucking test is anti-Zionism. That’s it. If he can’t even do that then let the socdems burn. The PSL should infiltrate the DSA and purge all entryists and liberals, expel them from the party.

IIRC he had a call with Obama a few weeks back. Was probably told he has no future in Dem politics long-term if he doesn’t do what he is told… and it appears that he said yes, despite the Dem party being incredibly unpopular rn.

The funny part is that he definitely has no future in politics at all going down this road. After being a status quo preserving figurehead of NYC for a few years, literally everyone is going to hate his fucking guts.
