The navy frigate sent by Spain to accompany the humanitarian Global Sumud Flotilla of around fifty volunteer-crewed vessels taking aid to Gaza is unlikely to intervene to prevent any attacks by Israel on the fleet, which Israel has bombed and harassed nightly since its arrival in the Mediterranean.

can someone explain the purpose of the flotilla. Israel is not gonna let it pass. No military is gonna escort it so it can reach its destination without israel preventing it. It seems to me the only possible purpose the members of the flotilla have is to be martyred by israel, and israel wins by not killing them. Do the crew of the flotilla even understand this?

You can see past flotillas, which generally did not have the crew martyred. The point isn’t for the crew to die, which they probably won’t but to show the undeniable barbarity of Israel blocking aid via first-hand documentation.

I believe you have already seen the effects. The combine pressure have been building for years , from BDS, attempts to break the siege , unions and activists.

The change has come late , but not to late I believe. There are plenty of food and supplies rotting in trucks outside rafah. The mission is not to solve a genocide and starvation by a couple of tons of aid. The mission is to break the siege and establish an humanitarian corridor.

The amount of pressure put is forcing the hands of the EU countries and other countries.

Everyone onboard is very clear about objectives, risks and the torture that will be happening before and in Isrealis prisons. As well as imprisonment for an unknown amount of time.

We just believe it’s worse to risk not doing this at all.

Risks are accepted , suicide missions not.

I could not continue all the way unfortunately but my friends still onboard are not doing this in a whim. It’s a very clearly thought out decision for everyone.

And there is still a chance for the main objective to be reached. Less likely than interception but there is a chance.

Politically GSF and everyone involved is quite clear on different countries interests and actions. It’s not like an analysis of the situation wasn’t prepared and always updates according to current situation…

Do the crew of the flotilla even understand this?

Do you honestly think they’ve gotten as far as they have without thinking over everything you, random Internet commenter, could possibly consider?
