Apparently they’re blaming the decision to stop us from taking home food because of some dipshit who took too much shit home. Idk if that’s true this time (last time it was the impetus for them to give a shit, some guy was taking home like four fucking containers of shit every day) but even if they’re just scapegoating someone it’s still collective punishment which, according to the Geneva convention, is a literal crime against humanity
society
even my own fucking gf is hmmming and hummmming at me, I feel like I’ve got the fucking glasses from They Live on so the fucking cost being TAKEN FROM ME is clear as day and everyone else is all HUH? WHAT YOU MAD ABOUT?
I consider a full container of food from there to be bare minimum $16-20 in value, so that’s a bare minimum $2/hr pay cut over the course of a day. And that doesn’t include the value of me not having to spend an hour or more at home cooking for myself or my partner. Which, if you take my time to be worth what it is at work, would basically double that. A single fucking container of food, if it prevents me from needing to cook later, is worth 33-40 ffucking dollars, in my opinion. So it’s closer to an effective 3-4 dollar PER HOUR pay cut, which is like, 25% of my fucking pay
why am I “the crazy person” here
why am I “the crazy person” here
Years of brainwashing
Which is especially funny considering that the average office worker takes home way more valuable stuff than that and they don’t fucking get told “No stationary for anyone anymore!”
I smuggle half a roll of tp out of work every single day

employer steals your wages
ah well, that’s just business, don’t like it? better spiff up your resume and hit linkedin
you steal small shit from around the office
stop right there criminal scum!
it isn’t even fucking stealing unless you consider the <20 cent containers (and multiple workers offer to buy reusable containers, from them, profiting them lol) because it’s all food getting thrown away anyway!
One of the benefits of my current work was casual dress. Someone came to work in a Pikachu outfit. Suddenly management was like, “we need to formalize the dress code and forbid things that are too casual” and were also making it a trans thing because the person was openly genderfluid. Like… just tell them not to wear cosplay at work.
If I was management I would simply punish only the people who actually do something wrong
I really do not understand this entire mindset of “one person ruining it for everyone”. Like no? Just punish them?
The guy said a bunch of shit about the costs of containers (i could buy 1000 for 150 dollars, at like, my personal ass consumer rate, im sure it’s cheaper for them. That’s less than 18 cents each btw) and then about how when he was at chik fil a he’d have extra sandwiches ready every day just to take shit home (implying we do the same but i promise none of the cooks including me are doing anything extra. We over prep but it’s fucking buffet style and the dining habits are unpredictable and some shit we can’t just magic up more of mid service) so maybe it’s brain worms about that
It’s just fucking dumb. I told my boss, head chef (not the guy who decided this shit), it’s so ass backward because this is a low cost, to them, effective increase in our pay and benefits that people will weigh considering whether to stay at the job or not. He said some shit about how we’d have to find another restaurant job to take shit home and probably couldn’t find one that would let us, and it’s like. Buddy. At that point, you’ve got us comparing two jobs that don’t let us take shit home. You no longer have that selling point! The difficulty in finding that perk elsewhere doesn’t fucking matter anymore! Fuck!
I am just obsessively churning out thoughts making arguments that would work if this weren’t a fucking hell that we live in where people are corporate machines willing to kill you even for just perceived benefit. No matter what I say I know it’s just going to be constant goalpost changing bullshit as he tries to convince me that actually I was never entitled to this benefit or w/e
Not sure if you’ve been through this before, but don’t take people’s regurgitated responses too seriously. People will spit out whatever comes to mind, but I know definitively that on some level, with many of your coworkers (not every single one, but a good chunk or possibly a majority) they know your words and ideas make more sense than their own.
Key is to be “normal and chill” most of the time, a bit impassioned is okay when you’re on topic.in 6 months (even if you’ve kinda given up) you’ll see some of that energy reflected back at you. Just gotta walk the line of being “chill person who has a wild hair about some things (but actually kinda makes sense when you chat about it more)” and not “crazy person making a fool out of yourself by making a big deal about everything all the time”.
If I was management I would simply punish only the people who actually do something wrong**
yeah but then you have to, you know, do a job
There’s a new HR policy at my work (well, I say new, but it’s been a few years) to require a doctor’s note after one guy took like 30 sick days one year, a bunch of which were corroborated as fake by his work friends who saw social media posts of him travelling to other cities for football games. It’s infuriating. Just deal with the one bad actor! It’s literally one guy!
