It literally does mean loss of individuality for exactly the reason you express, because it’s taking the “countless voices, styles, and tones” and basically deciding on what the average is and talking like that. The individuality of those “countless voices, styles, and tones” is not preserved, it’s smashed into a paste a mixed into a homogeneous slime.

Yeah. I don’t use it. I fucked around with it for an hour or so to see what all the hype was about, but I found it obnoxious. It’s long-winded and bloviating. It writes like a high schooler trying to hit a page count. Look, motherfucker, I asked you a simple fucking question. I don’t need a dissertation. A sentence would have been fine. I’m not going to read five paragraphs as a response to “Hey bud, how you doing today?”
Also words like “delve” and “examine” aren’t particularly uncommon. Well, “delve” isn’t often used in colloquial speech or writing, but it sometimes has its place when you’ve already used up better words, or if you just want to sound Lovecraftian. It’s just an old-ass word that most people don’t use anymore. “Examine” though? Really? You’re telling me the analysis found an uptick in the word “examine?” That seems like an incredibly common and normal word to me.
Also: fuck you (video creators!) I use em dashes. I’ve used em dashes since before chat GPT existed. I know how to use dashes and hyphens correctly. If you can’t type an em dash, then <space><dash><space> is acceptable. A dash is a dash and a hyphen is a hyphen. They are different things! Fuck! Dashes, hyphens, and semi-colons are mysteries of the English language even that even English speakers don’t understand. It’s wild. Twitter was doing a fuck-load more damage to the English language before “AI” came along. “u no wut i mn dog?” Putting hard character limits on posts was disastrous for written speech.
But aside from all my bitching, this seems like a perfect example of the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis of linguistic relativity. If so, it’s an incredible problem, because our language is evolving in a way that is directly controlled by the dumbest fucking tech-bros.
