Actually, they do have different volumes. At least, on Toyotas, the bottom of the steering wheel plays a much softer beep if you just tap it. I use that to indicate, “Come on, now,” versus smacking the middle for, “Whoa, Nelly!” or “What the @#$% are you doing?”

It’s really not needed, though, in light of https://comma.ai’s offline, open-source Openpilot self-driving dashcam modules. Maybe it’s for software updates but those can be passed online.

I’m gonna guess that Rivian will still eventually secretly log telemetry again despite this claim.
