So glad to know Reddit is continuing to support such an incredible feature. What would anyone do without purchasable NFT avatars? I think when I jumped ship for the third party app stuff, they were doing special limited run avatars that were like $100 each. I’m sure it’s even better now!

I think I know what they’re talking about. A few years ago I believe Reddit was using the MaGiC of BlOcKcHaIn for storing Reddit avatar outfits, and if you had enough karma they gave you a couple options for free when they were rolling it out. They were stored in some sort of wallet or something and could be shuffled around, like a fucking Reddit NFT but the website actually used them to display certain images on your profile.

They gave me one of these too…

  • I’ve added a new rule as of 2025/07/16 after a user report. The Code of Conduct doesn’t really have any sort of “don’t be a jerk” catch all for posts, so I’ve added one for this community. It’s purpose is to allow removal of singular toxic posts (e.g. “Fuck you, this is such a brain-dead take,” “I hate this, stop posting your unfunny shit”). The appended rule is added to the main post, but I will also include the snippet below. Let me know if you have any issues with this rule, and we can try to refine it if necessary.

    5. Don’t be a jerk — Have tact, don’t antagonize other posters.

A catch all rule for things which don’t explicitly fall under the code of conduct, but where it’s clear someone is needlessly attacking a poster or commenter, and making the community a less welcoming space in doing so. If you disagree with someone, or dislike a post which doesn’t break rules, please respond without being intentionally demeaning, hostile, or otherwise insulting to them. This is a community focused around jokes, memes, and relatable images, and people should be able to share or discuss relevant things without being attacked over it.

Feel free to discuss and disagree, but if it seems like you’re more interested in being a jerk than sharing an opinion, your post will be removed.

  • As an update, just checked again and it looks like according to the modlog they are now actively deleting messages which point this out and link the original as spam. That is to say, instead of explaining themselves or considering why pawb.social members aren’t thrilled with the /r/RealFurryHours post lifting, it is deliberately being obfuscated.

Sharing posts is normally fine, but this sort of deliberate attempt to pass things off as original, and also the subject matter of stealing other’s personal concerns they want answers to feels very icky. There’s no particular site wide rule I can point to, so really all I can say is any hope of that community growing to form fruitful discussion is entirely poisoned.

I don’t have experience with models, but if there is a compatible free software model (E6ing is FOSS, though not GPL) which suggests tags with a reasonable degree of accuracy, sure. Given the way images are uploaded, if such a model suggested existing tags for all new submissions the uploader could validate, that’d likely be a great jumping off point instead of only a handful of tags and a +tagme. Maybe these suggestions could also exist within the tag editing page for others to validate in the future as well.
