  • Did you read the article you linked? It doesn’t talk about saturated fats being good but instead talks about the protective effects of olive oil, nuts, and omega 3s. The best part about it is they talk about how the linoleic acid is one of the protective elements and linoleic acid is the “scary” thing about seed oils as they are our primary source of linoleic acid… as a whole though it wasn’t a study or even a meta review it was just an editorial as in no data was actually analyzed

By definition olive oil is a vegetable oil unless you want to go by taxonomic terms where it would be a fruit oil (since vegetables are not a term in official taxonomy which is why tomatoes are also fruits)

Whole grains are also by definition complex carbs

A pound of bacon (16 strips) is over 2400 calories and can be consumed fairly easily by the average person in a single sitting especially if you contrast that to eating lower fat food like chicken breast which you would need to eat 4.5 pounds of or rice that you would need to eat over 3 cups of (uncooked) to get the same amount of calories. I am not saying fats are evil but the argument that they fill you up faster is just wrong

It says in textbooks that in a vacuum water will spontaneously boil so arguing that it’s not spontaneous is wrong.

It happens as pressure decreases but unlike conventional boiling where you can see nucleate boiling it can instead happen all at once without you adding heat to the system

Most importantly he’s trying to argue semantics with a person who is much smarter than him and then ends it with a condescending “simple thermo”.

It’s not the guy who said it first it’s the guy who made a file format and chose a name that was the same as the peanut butter company…

Are you seriously this narcissistic that you can’t admit the way you say something is technically wrong? A product was made with a specific name and you choose to say it contrary to that way because it conveys the information it’s a perfectly acceptable way of pronouncing it but if you can’t admit that you are technically wrong in something so stupid and benign as a pronunciation of an acronym then you might have a problem.

I’ll even go first and announce to all the people on this thread that I am in facts not gods gift to the world and sometimes pronounce words differently than their correct pronunciations because the correct ones are less fun.

The day a person wrote island they were wrong. If they tried to insist to everyone else that they were right and the dictionaries are wrong they would be called an idiot. If they tried to insist to everyone that they came up with an alternate spelling to align with the Latin roots that’s a different story.

Now considering this is an arbitrary name that someone made up to specifically call it gif like the peanut butter brand… I would say they get at least a few decades of them being correct

You can say it with a hard g as much as you want but to claim you are correct is another story

You are comparing the evolution of language from hundreds of years to a group of people mispronouncing a word since it’s usually seen written from only a a few decades ago

The format came out in 1987 and the creator has on multiple occasions said that the correct way to pronounce it is with a soft g

If in 2187 if the whole world starts saying it with a hard g you can pretend that’s correct and comparable to an evolution of the human language but considering the founder is still alive and calling it gif and your argument boils down to “the person who created it is saying it wrong” then it’s not comparable to the change in spelling of island…

  • That is a ton of misinformation

Starting off with stating that bread and other grain are only simple carbohydrates when whole grains are an easy source of complex carbs. And while sugar can be addictive it’s literally a nutrient that our body needs and if we fail to eat it, our body will just break down protein to produce it

Then while fats may by a good source of energy (because they offer 9 calories per gram) they are also an easy way to over consume calories because they are so dense.

Saturated fats are still problematic and try and look for some articles published outside of the U.S.

Then you start talking about vegetable oils being bad when olive oil has been the gold standard for healthy oil. There has been a ton of misinformation going around about seed oils trying to make them into the devil but again look for some RFK free Studies

Recent research studied the diet and health of over 200,000 people in the US for around 30 years. The researchers found that people who consumed more plant oils (including seed oils) were less likely to die from cardiovascular disease or cancer over the course of the study. On the other hand, those with a higher intake of butter were more likely to die during the same period.”

But if you are talking about the correct way to pronounce something shouldn’t that be the way the creator named it?

It’s like if you named your dog Aaron and they went by the name for a while and all of a sudden people start calling him Ay Ay Ron because they saw the two As and assumed that was how to pronounce it.

What pronunciation would you consider correct the one the creator came up with or the one an uninformed consensus came up with?

The U in scuba stands for underwater yet people pronounce it scOOba

The E in hepa stands for efficiency yet its pronounced HEPA with a short E

The A in nato stands for Atlantic and the O stands for organization

The first A in ASAP is for as

The Os in POTUS, SCOTUS and FLOTUS all come from of and the Us comes from United

Acronyms don’t need to sound like the word they are from

  • They will just prevent you from doing things without it. Like let’s say tomorrow they say you need to show Real ID to vote, if you refuse to get a real ID and only have a normal drivers license it’s not like you would be able to say “ I don’t have a real ID so you have to let me vote anyway” they will just ban you from voting until you get one or an equivalent document I.e. passport

  • Are you referencing the pew research study that also found that a large percentage of those men weren’t looking for a relationship

Or the part where they define single to include casual relationships

One of the top reasons women didn’t want to date a man was Donald Trump

Men who were looking had their number one reason being “hard for them to approach people”

Did you also see the part where women were the ones most likely to say dating is harder now than it used to be largely out of fear of harassment

And while 12% say it’s harder to date because of technology 41% say it’s easier to date because of technology

You do know it’s possible to read information analyze that data and use it to form an opinion but since you don’t actually seem interested in that opinion and all you want to do is attack you can do that by yourself

  • Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is something that’s literally impossible to do. Telling a person that if they are struggling to meet women the first thing they should do is hang out in settings where women exist is literally just common sense, you even said it’s a pointless truism because of how obvious it is. Yet somehow many people are complaining about not meeting people and me saying you should hang out women is controversial…

I am saying there isn’t a widespread problem and isn’t causing it the “male loneliness epidemic” really cementing the lack of problem as if it was wide widespread and considering the majority of men are straight that women would also be affected?

I am once again saying the same thing I have been saying there is a growing group of people who are just complaining about a problem without taking steps to fix it and the rise of online message boards and engagement algorithms has created echo chambers that people get stuck in and a person should take the “obvious” steps to self improvement before writing off all their problems as “society”

  • You mention this as being because of the digital era but what about that is any different than 25 years ago? If you don’t have time to spend a few hours a week pursing a hobby how are you going to have time to be in a relationship? The cost of pursing hobbies is a real concern for lower income people but how has that changed? How were you supposed to date a person if you lived in a social desert with no reliable transportation before?

Maybe I haven’t been clear with what I am saying because you are grossly misunderstanding my point.

I am saying when you have a problem you should try and improve yourself to address the problem vs blame society. For example if you can’t figure out how to program in python: you could read about it, watch educational videos, or take a course. Going onto a message board and complaining that python is impossible and stating we are in a programmer epidemic while not trying to learn it first is bad. We can make the acknowledgement that python can be hard for some people to learn but calling it impossible to learn without having put in the effort is useless

  • It is a pointless truism, and it is a numbers game which is why it’s so shocking people don’t see that!

So if one persons spends 1 hour a week with eligible women and the other person spends 10 hours a week with eligible women the second person is statistically much more likely to find a partner.

And if you spend only 1 hour a week with eligible women and instead of increasing that time you just decide to blame society that’s a you problem

There is also a difference between pretending to be interested in something to get laid and trying to find ways to do things you find interesting with other people
