I can’t come up with a reason lunkhead would be less offensive than airhead, so I’m guessing this is a result of the game being remade for switch in Japanese and then retranslated, rather than just pulling the translated text from the old version, presumably because there have been changes in general to the game/it would be a pain in the arse.
A lot of Nintendo remasters have done retranslating or merging of several languages’ translation choices lately so it is a possibility

outrage lmaoI think they just announced it in a direct today or yesterday, but I’ve been pretty sure it was coming for some time as not long ago Nintendo started cracking down on GameCube emulators indicating they were planning to put out more GameCube remakes. It’s one of my all time favorite games too.
