  • other people have already covered other aspects of this, but I’ll chime in on that last point - knowing the person or not after they transition shouldn’t really factor into it once you find out they’ve transitioned (apart from obviously having to clarify who you’re talking about to e.g. your family but in an ideal world that would be a one time thing).

I’d also add that while you will find trans people who are somewhere between ‘ok’ and ‘cool’ with using their deadname to refer to pre-transition, I think it’d be hard to find someone who would be adamant about using one name before and another name after - on the other hand it’s pretty easy to find a lot of people who will not want to be referred to in that way at all, and all things considered I would look to respect her wishes even if you no longer know her.

  • to be fair, the creator/writer has said that he formulated the plot while he was working in an office - they might not have set out to strictly write a show purely critiquing labour from a marxist perspective, but at the same time it does seem like a natural conclusion that the show arrives at based on how the show tries to tie so many threads back to the alienation at the base of the concept

  • i always think i’m a good programmer and then i see some open-sourced code some folks did in their spare time that blows my mind and I realise i still know nothing a decade into coding lmao

this looks really cool, i might see what i can do to help out/if there’s anything worth adding to the repo at some point :))

  • spoiler

not to metagame things, but I think there’s 0 percent chance Irv is gone for good - he’s not yet transferred ANY of the information he knows to the rest of the gang either inside or outside, so I figure he MUST be coming back at some point. I don’t think we’ll see Innie Irv for a while, but I suspect we’re about to start picking up with Outtie Irv. On top of that, I’m also interested in what actually happens after the episode ends - Irv is being switched off in the middle of the forest, surrounded by the rest of MDR - does his Outtie immediately wake up? Does he go into a coma and then the Outtie wakes at home? In which case, how the fuck would you explain what’s happened, given the Outtie MUST have signed something at some point to allow Lumon to have control over their Innie for at least two days (to allow them to camp over night). I also can’t help but feel like there’s something more to this ORTBO potentially - it feels like this episode ended in a way that I suspect the next episode might pick up IMMEDIATELY where we left off

but also I might be wrong who knows shrug-outta-hecks
