Running a privacy-focused public DNS service is a highly specialized undertaking, and the Quad9 Foundation is the undisputed leader in the field. Rather than duplicating their efforts to achieve only part of what they do, we’re putting those resources toward financially supporting Quad9 instead.

quad9 doesn’t have the various levels of filters (ads, social, etc…). nice to put on a mobile or pc that doesn’t always have access to a ‘pihole’

Nextdns.io does, if you just need house level DNS ad blocking.

Technically not free if you exceed a very high number of DNS queries, but ive been using it for years and have never got there.

You can also disable logging entirely, so there is no record of any of your queries if you want to maximize privacy.

Yeah I just switched to IVPN because of this. I had about 30 days left on my subscription when the news first broke, so I figured I’d give them that long to see if they handled it well. Their wishy-washy response to it made me pull the plug.

Left wing, but who is counting. I think Örebropartiet has gotten flagged as every single extremist group known to man at this point.

Lets just say they are not on speaking terms with the populist right. If anything they are populist left.

I’ve also heard them described as tankies.

They are nationalist racists trying to cloak themselves with populist leftist ideas. This is the leader of that party:

            https://www.friatider.se/markus-allard-om-andra-generationens-invandrare-de-ska-ocksa-ut

Örebro Party leader Markus Allard goes to the election on expulsions. He opens to withdraw citizenship and also expel second generation of immigrants – even if they were born in Sweden.
“I’m prepared to cross corpses,” he said.

One suggestion that he has is that citizenship and permanent residence permits can be torn up – with reference to “Sweden is the country of Swedes”.

In a section of Yoshi’s Podcast, Allard develops his view on expulsions and explains that he prepared to “go over corpses” to bring home unwanted immigrants. The host notes that there will be no beautiful sight when, for example, immigrant mothers who have been on maternity leave for 15 years are to be deported together with their children. “It’s not going to be pretty to send these people home,” he said. Markus Allard agrees, but says: I think you can handle that optics. Even the children will need to be deported, he explains.

He further explains that many of the problems relate to second-generation immigrants. They are going out too. Even if they were born in Sweden, because they have no natural connection to Sweden. They are not Swedes. They have not become Swedes. It says Sweden in the passport, but they have not been interested in becoming part of Sweden. There’s a difference. It’s a qualitative difference," Allard said

Remember; the Nazi’s did the same thing by strategically calling their party the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, despite them not being socialist nor a working class party. This was chosen because Socialism was gaining popularity, and thus the Nazi’s thought it would help their chances of getting votes and public support.

Do you mean like those nationalist socialists that came out of Germany a few years ago?

They spoke of many left wing policies before getting power. I forget, which side of the spectrum are they regarded as now?

The party was created to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism.[13]

Initially, Nazi political strategy used socialist rhetoric to gain the support of the lower middle class

The Nazis sought to strengthen the Germanic people, the “Aryan master race”, through racial purity and eugenics, broad social welfare programs, and a collective subordination of individual rights, which could be sacrificed for the good of the state on behalf of the people.

The renaming of the German Workers’ Party (DAP) to the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP) was partially driven by a desire to draw upon both left-wing and right-wing ideals, with “Socialist” and “Workers’” appealing to the left, and “National” and “German” appealing to the right.[27]

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_Party

            Compare that with:

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Örebro_Party

A huge range of socialist looking policies, but crucially only for “desirables”. Anyone with even a whiff of foreign, poverty, or criminality is an undesirable ripe for exploitation. Particularly in forced labour camps. It’s straight up German Nazism. Socialism for “Aryans” Swedes at the expense of everybody else.

Nazbols aren’t left wing. Even if you accept the brainrot that is assigning point values to establishing a racial heirarchy vs supporting universal medicine that still makes them centrist at worst.

The Nazi Party were only socialist in name. The first people they went after were the other Socialists, the communists, and the trade unionists. They weren’t socialists.

That being said any populist movement that uses populist left while pushing an authoritarian bent and right wing policies sure sounds like the opening lyrics to the Nazi Song, but could also be a version of some political parties that show liberal and left values while making an economical conservative policy to capture a big tent of voters, but it sure sounds like the earlier than the latter.

The party also wants to introduce an allowance for children up to the age of 15 that they can use for cultural activities such as sports or chess.

In its political program for the 2026 Swedish general election the Örebro Party writes that they want to “stop the ongoing population replacement” and make Sweden a monocultural society, rather than a multicultural one. The party also writes that this “will be a Sweden where ethnic Swedes are once again the clear majority.” The party also claims that “Sweden belongs to the Swedes” and "No other people shall ever be able to lay claims on Sweden. This is our land.” and states that they want to implement measures to decrease the immigrant population in Sweden through remigration, closed borders and a strict assimilation policy.

Among measures listed to combat crime are: automatic deportation of criminal immigrants, enforcing the border, encouraging the establishment of neighborhood watches, [… and] establishing a dedicated crime investigation authority where police and prosecutors work side by side and use all state intelligence to detect and mark criminals.

As a punitive measure the Örebro Party wants to allow for the creation of labor camps in Sweden and for penal labor to be a type of punishment for crime. The party writes that those who refuse work should not be let out of prison. […] The Örebro Party writes that these prisoners can replace migrant workers in their tasks, arguing that most labor migration to Sweden is “unnecessary”.

Örebro Party strongly opposes state financing of green energy as well as green industry projects such as Northvolt, Hybrit, H2 Green steel and Stegra. The party refers to the Swedish handling of climate change as “semi-religious climate anxiety” and “fanatical insanity”. The party opposes the green transition, referring to it as a “bluff” and argues that the money spent on these projects would be more useful invested in nuclear energy, military, schools and hospitals.

“Sweden belongs to the Swedes. We have to make sure that we take care of our own damn people and we must deport these damn parasites who sit and live at our expense. […] They will also be forced to leave, even if they are born in Sweden, because they have no natural connection to Sweden. They are not Swedish.”

              I could keep going.

Just aaaaall over. Impossible to pin down. Can they even be neo-Nazis if they want to checks notes create direct democracy as a populist ploy to seize power by appealing directly to morons with disinformation, expand free healthcare, and decriminalize cannabis? It really evens out in the end, dunnit?

I’m glad I caught this early, thanks for posting it.
    Link to Quad9’s DNS services.

Besides Mullvad, which I’ve now changed to Quad9, I use Adguard.com (Cypriot company), LibreDNS.gr (Greek) and UncensoredDNS.org (Danish). They all support both DNS-over-TLS and DNS-over-HTTPS.
The guys that run UncensoredDNS.org (@tykling@mastodon.social) and LibreDNS.gr (@comzeradd@libretooth.gr) are both reachable through the fediverse which is neat.

    Anyone got other European recommendations?

No problem! Technically they ARE a Cypriot company (and probably even hire in the EU now and have to obey GDPR and stuff), but historically it’s been founded in Moscow. And personally I would consider even historical ties to authoritarian countries a red flag.

But, like, they only were founded on Moscow, or they had proven links with the Russian government? Because these are two distinct things.

I mean, one might be founded on an authoritarian country but not support any of its shit. Or even fight against it. If I had the resources, that’s what I’d do at least.

I ask sincerely because I don’t know too much about their story and I don’t have energy to research tho.

At least I’ve never used them because I didn’t like the part that an important part of their infrastructure is closed-source.

with how fast the internet has become and how efficient DNS caching is, it’s kind of a wonder to me that people still need a thrid party middleman for DNS services.

I barely noticed when I changed my home network to use Unbound
