Okay I’m sorry I’ve been busy lately and haven’t had time to keep up with shit, what exactly is “Hugging Face”? Everyone seems kinda freaked out by it.
You know how some people can download and run smaller AIs on their video card in their home computer or like, at a small business? Huggingface is the repository for those, basically. Big names like DeepSeek and Qwen post their open-weight models on there for you to download. Even Google does it. Then there is a community of people who de-censor models and/or finetune them for a lot of useful shit (like specializing them for technical knowledge) or turning them into gooner bots for digital boyfriends/girlfriends.
It is to text-based models what civitAI is to image-based models.

I always assumed the name came from Alien
“🤗” is their logo and the literal name of the emoji so I feel like it’s gotta be that. Alien reference is probably just a bonus.
