EDIT: I’m not the original artist, @pmjv@lemmy.sdf.org is the artist. Here’s a link to their Original Post and Here’s a link to their profile on their home instance
I should get naughty and ignore all the instructions and kill the computer
Cat :3 kill computer
i’m a big fan of pmjv. their art/content brings me back to a time when the internet was still big and mysterious.
Big and mysterious but somehow small and cozy (if that makes sense, like the early internet days)
The only good slop is Funkadelic - Cosmic Slop.
Why, this is some of @pmjv@lemmy.sdf.org quality artwork!
I love that guy!
Being anti-slop and then not crediting the artist is funny
It is a crosspost, checking the other places it’s crossposted to leads directly to the artist’s post. And this image isn’t cropped but how the OG artist shared it.
Though now that both of y’all are talking about I’m now not certain that other frontends show that this is in fact a crosspost or where it is cross posted from. So I’m gonna edit the post to include links to be certain that they get proper credit.
For whatever reason, this didn’t show up as a crosspost on my end, either (but plenty of other posts do.) I just figured you’d saw it, liked it, saved the image to your device, then later ended up on 196 and shared what you had to follow the ‘post before you leave’ rule. People share memes and other stuff they didn’t make that they just saved to their device 'cause they liked it all the time here; I didn’t think you were trying to pass it off as yours.
I think it’s really cool that you edited the post to clarify things and credit the artist/OP when you learned the crosspost got borked somehow. Good on you :)
I try to give credit when I can (and have even delved to find sources when other’s didn’t share it for whatever reason) so finding out that the link back was borked I had to fix it lol
Things get borked pretty often online (my least favorite is when site add just enough compression to ruin an artist signiture) so finding out that something got borked and needs a workaround is always nice so that attention is drawn to an issue.
Hmm; I can’t see the crosspost in either direction. I guess something broke, as I can usually see them.
Perhaps it’s a federation issue or frontend issue? Or my favorite: a random difficult to recreate issue somewhere. I did go back and edit the body of the post so that credit is there though (I do recommend checking out more of the artists’ work as it’s pretty fire)
On Boost, you have to click the hamburger button to see crossposts, there is no other indicator I know of.
I’m sure it’s not the only one.
Wouldn’t calling it out just help them improve how it’s noticed? Kinda like how killing a spider leaves the gene pool overall stealthier.
im far more worried about actual artists being called out bc someone believes its slop bc of ‘tells’ than it getting better. but similarly i’m trying to just not call out, ask for source of the art and if i dont get it i dont interact, share, or save
Old reddit bots used to have a bot account group that’d gang up to yell at you if you called on out. It was funny
Found this site trying to search for the gang.
