It’s a country where the state is paid to beat down on the working class and people can literally be ripped from prisons and mental institutions to do the most dangerous labour on earth. Of course the capitalists love it.
Unfortunately I can’t boycott Pepsi twice because I’m already boycotting US products at the grocery store.
Already boycotting it for years.
Afri Cola > all of them
I despise Afri sugar free. It’s probably the worst Cola I ever had. Fortunately there are tons of better German Cola brands so it’s easy to avoid. Fritz-Kola is definitely the best sugar free option. Sinalco is a very good low budget option. But to each their own. I’m not missing American beverages one bit.
Vita Cola Classic is where it’s at. Price and taste are top notch.
I’m in Germany and i had Bluna and it’s good but i haven’t seen Afri Cola anywhere.
Fuck! I didn’t know it is that old? I thought it’s some hipster startup from the early 2010s.
TBF it does sound like they sold off the cola beverage facilities?
I think Pepsi Co and Coca Cola both need to feel the hammer of antimonopoly laws, they’ve consumed far too many other brands.
EDIT: Nah they even opened a new plant and extended trademarks to 2033.
PepsiCo, one of the largest food and drink producers in the world, remains Russia’s fourth-largest foreign business — with 60,000 workers and 19 factories still producing Pepsi Cola for Russian shelves under new names, Lyubimaya Cola and Evervess Cola.
They just rebranded Pepsi in Russia so that they could claim to have on paper ‘discontinued’ it.
But do they actually still own the facilities or does it just produce the same cola?
They’re making money from the local bottlers and other parts of the supply chain. Kind of like how Coke in the US is made locally by local bottlers.
Their presence is still massive.
From https://leave-russia.org/pepsico
…the B4Ukraine Coalition reported on Jan. 10, 2024. PEPSICO HOLDINGS LLC currently have 21 branches in different regions of Russia and 1 representative office in Belarus. They also have 80 brands registered in Rospatent, most of which were extended recently till 2033.
Not only that, they have been expanding, even in the middle of the war, with plans for even more facilities:
In 2024, the American company PepsiCo started the operation of the first phase of the factory of snacks and salty snacks in Russia, near Novosibirsk.
Despite the war, the company has been operating in Russia for over 60 years, and opened a new plant with a production capacity of 60,000 tons per year. The American company PepsiCo wants to register the Rockstar trademark in Russia for the sale of beverages. The application was submitted to the agency on April 30, 2025 and PepsiCo is listed as the applicant.
Thank you, finally somebody with more than judt a “gutt feeling”.
Despite announcing it would suspend capital investments and all advertising and promotional activities in Russia, the firm has continued to sell what it calls “essential” products, such as milk, other dairy products, and baby food and formula.
The cola is no longer owned by PepsiCo to my knowledge, and any found there is via re-exports.
If they remain the fourth largest business with 60,000 employees, then I would think yes.
My unintentional boycott caravan boogies on with yet another win. Next, you’ll tell me facebook was evil all along.
