I’m just curious how the far-right is framing these developments, and how it differs per country.
Are they mostly talking about the “pyromaniacs”?
Or about how governments failed to do organize the (supposedly normal) periodic low intensity fires to prevent the big ones?
Or are they simply not talking about it at all?
If you have any concrete links to local media, I would be very curious!
Now that we are on topic, I would also like to know of they also talk a lot about public land fires, to blame the government.
If so, check something, do those fires started on public land? Or the fire started on private owned land and then spread to public land? They like to ignore the responsibility of private land owners to prevent fires on the land they own.
In Australia they blame the left and arsonists. The left because they protest clearing the earth of all trees.
Depending the level of crazyness.
It goes from: the government doesn’t let farmers do prevention (it’s fake, they are not only not disallowed to do prevention, they are obligated to do it and neglect to that responsibility), to the government secret laser drones are making fires to make room for evil solar farms.
They’re back to only talking about migrants.
Shout out to the farmers protesting for cheaper diesel when we had a green gov 2-3 years ago and now crying for subsidies because the dryness is killing their crops. Some real smart salt of the earth
Hungary - they’re blaming it on the hail prevention system. According to them that’s the cause for the low rainfall.
I had a lady at a coffee shop tell me about how the California fires are created by nuclear powered space lasers the US sold to China that they’re now using for climate terrorism against the US.
She also told me that her grandma had Obama’s birth certificate.
People are… interesting.
UK - local authorities are busy un-declaring climate emergency, nationally they are blaming the wildfires on re-wilding done by lefties and anyway, they say, it is no worse than the summer of '76.
Ha wow. I searches and I found this:
In Southern Europe they are realising that wildfires have been raging through areas that were once grazed but have since been abandoned by an ageing population no longer content to be peasant farmers.
Formerly it was an offence in many countries for landowners not to maintain fire breaks by spraying. Now, under pressure from Greens, the rules have been relaxed in many areas, and chickens are coming home to roost with their wings on fire.

The bit about the farmers is true. I live in one of these areas and our animals graze lands that were abandoned by the original owners who emigrated to the city or to abroad. And the build-up of organic mass on abandoned farms gives a lot of food to wildfires that might otherwise be mild. The government has its part in this though by encouraging the planting of ‘match forests’ of pine and eucalyptus.
The spraying bit, at least where I live, is complete bullshit. There’s laws in place that one has to clean their land, and they are still in place. The cleaning mostly happens with fossil fueled brush cutters. Municipal governments however love using Roundup at the side of the roads, it’s so nice and easy! Firebreaks by spraying is utter bullshit anyways - when you spray, the surface plants die off and leave plenty of organic matter to burn.
For example: Vlaams Belang (far-right in Belgium) is all indignant about how the country supposedly spent too much on climate mitigation (something they have always fought) and not enough on climate adaptation.
See for example this piece on their website about the forest fires, titled: “forget about the climate church, start investing in climate adaptation”.
Over here in germany i also had some news channel or radio or something say something regarding this.
It was said that the statement - that we did too less in adaption and should have saved ressources for that by investing less in climate mitigation - is utter bullshit and we should have invested more in both and that this new discussion is stupid.
Wanted to point that out since it seems like our right wing idiots have the same talking points as yours.
Almost feels like this entire discussion is another one of those big right wing investor/media mogul type of discussion thats being forced onto society by right wing media shills.
What is “climate church”?
They try to frame science as a “religion” so that they can argue that their beliefs are just as valid and they can ignore the science.
