I don’t think the books suck. They are suitable for the age group they are intended for. People act like they’re supposed to be great literature or something, though.
It doesn’t matter that they’re unoriginal - the target audience don’t know that. It’s the first time they’ve seen these things, so they feel original to them.
I hate this attitude that it’s okay for something to suck if it’s made for children.
