before i came out to myself i had a couple tries at body building, so i learned a bit about techniques for bulking. one of the more, lets say aggressive, options for a very dirty bulk is to get calories via liquids. stuff like sugary soda and milk shakes, but i think they also have meal replacement shakes that also have a bunch of protein and fat so its not all empty calories. its much easier to get a lot of calories that way which is why the first thing they recommend people cut out for weight loss is liquid calories, because it doesnt feel like youre eating anything but youre getting a ton of extra calories. like one milkshake could have 1400 calories, but it doesnt feel like you ate anything so you also eat a full meal on top of it.
im curious if you’ve tried that and how it went. im not sure its something a doctor would learn or tell you so figured id mention.
I can’t digest fructose anymore. Most of those shakes give me violent diarrhea because they use cheap sugar or substitutes that include sugar alcohols and I’m losing more than gaining.
I then went ahead and made my own by buying maltodextrose and mixing it in my other food or making shakes when I felt too nauseous to eat. But no luck.
The biggest issue is that I rarely see the upper end of the Bristol stool chart. My body isn’t properly digesting anymore. I also have a lot of malnutrition issues (vitamins D3, B12, folate, iron, biotin, potassium, …) that again fuck up your digestive system. Leaky gut is obviously a problem too.
Then I have other issues that cause fatigue and make me very easily affected by stress. The best fix would be to not work for a few months, get my micro biome back on track and gain weight. But I can’t afford that for the next years so I have to keep going.
dam… that sounds like a really complicated issue for sure. hope youre able to get through it at some point 🫂
I’m not alone and that makes it easier most of the times. Things could be a lot worse and though I sometimes feel like it, I’m not willing to give up. One day I will grow out of my current wardrobe and it will be a great day :D
