I actually hated work from home and my productivity dropped like a rock. Doesnt matter anymore though, the small company was bought by private equity who immediately merged it with a foreign company and started cramming AI into every nook and cranny.

I’m scraping by on cleaning carpets and air ducts now… sure it barely pays a fraction of a software dev salary but I no longer dread having to log in and feign enthusiasm in morning standup meetings anymore :)

As much as this is LI garbage and probably LLM slop…

I think it’s probably right: from the other side. Shitty management are going to give the raises, promotions and benefits to those who are sucking at their teats of in-office work.

Don’t worry. Promotions, raises and benefits won’t be going to those in office 4 days a week. It’ll mostly be nepotism

I think the wildest implication is that you’re supposed to balk at the raise and yearn for the promotion.

Like, no, I want more money, not more work, thanks.

In my experience the guy would have had 6 different managers in those 6 years and endured 24 (6yr x 4q) rounds of layoffs. The promotion will be title and responsibility only with the cost of living outpacing any sort of raise. Oh, and yeah… we’re gonna need you to come into the office for that fifth day too and pay for parking/transportation.
