    When he ran for president and got into the news for regular political reasons again, I was worried the public consciousnesses would forget about the primary definition of santorum; it brings me such joy that we’re keeping it alive.

      The “primary” meaning comes from that pos/because of that particular pos (wiki/santorum). The public (the internets, comedians) did keep it alive long enough for it to become a recognised meaning, to commemorate him appropriately.

      The og meaning of the surname is just ‘sainty’ (Latin).
