I’m considering a small setup for producing match grade 5.56 and maybe 6.5 Grendel, might want to branch out into some “m193 at home” or 124gr training 9mm type recipies if I do end up doing volume. Currently looking at a Lee 6-station progressive, sizing with an RCBS X-die and some kind of minimal trim/ream setup for military brass, or I might just keep it simple with a single stage like a Lee App and swage on the press. Can’t find any trim-on-press or swage-on-press that isn’t crazy expensive unfortutately. I’d love to hear about some of your setups and if my use case would be better served by either option.
It’s something I’m interested but don’t really know anything about. A friendly old guy at the range gave me some loads that I have written down somewhere. Will you use a book for load recipes?
Oh yeah, just really basic Hodgedon recipies, I’m trying to save money and make something simple that works, or have an affordable way into expensive calibers. None of Bubba’s Pissin Hot Handloads for me!
Been doing it since COVID! I’ve got a “lee classic” turret press that I bought used and in great condition, plus tooling for 9mm, 45ACP, and 30-06. Its all served me quite well for the past fiveish years. When I’m in the habit of reloading -> shooting -> reloading I shoot a lot more even though i probably don’t actually save much money lmao.
I bought a big book of reload recipes along with the press. I forget what it’s called and I’m not at my house so I can’t go look at it. But idk it felt more “right” to have a physical reference as opposed to looking up reloads on the internet.

Just started actually. Been doing 9mm so far, but I just got the last pieces I needed to do 223 and 380. I’ve grabbed a lot of used stuff and settled on a Lee classic turret. You can set it to auto advance so you can have a bullet in as little as 3 pulls of the lever. I’m mainly working out the space and 3d printing oddball parts for ease of use. Picked up a cheap rock tumbler to clean up the brass, pretty nice so far. I’m also 3d printing a prep station and length trimmer drill attachment. Kinda neat and fun to do, but staying organized and tidy is difficult.
Sweet! Do you trim and clean your 9mm or just seat em and yeet em? Can you run bullet or case feeders on the turret press?
Seat and yeet lol! Trimming isn’t for straight wall brass, it’s for bottle neck rifle because the neck ends up stretching out. I’m actually trying to figure out bullet and case feeding right now, probably going to have to do a lot more 3d printing.
Edit: I do clean them every time though.
