Wonder why the mattress folks have ads on a ton of the podcasts I listen to but it doesn’t show up on yt much. You’d think a mattress ad would want a visual medium to display some features.

It’s when somebody’s elgato stops working so their logo remains the only thing on the screen for a minute or so

This was put together by someone who doesn’t watch any sports channels. Completely missing all the sports betting sponsors like Fanduel and Underdog.

I love sponsor block, it works pretty much flawlessly apart from when YouTube recommends me a video from literally 30 seconds ago, which is surprisingly often that I can now count it on 2 hands as of the last time I got a scarily new video on my feed,

It’s funny that DeArrow has lead to me watching more videos with super click bait titles. It’s almost as if actually using the content for the title instead of some vague notion or off content question is more likely to pick a video to watch.

I know there’s a reason channels do it but this is just my experience.

It changes titles and thumbnails to remove clickbait. Seeing the youtube homepage without it is genuinely jarring–everyone is clawing at your attention. “Pick me, pick me!”

There are different options but i have it set so the thumbnail is a random frame from the video. I think titles are ‘normalized’ and sometimes community generated.

It replaces the thumbnail with a more representative frame from the video (voted by users). The ‘arrow’ was in reference to a trend where people would put a big red arrow pointed at some shit as clickbait. This is meant to stop clickbait

I’m proud to say that I block so many ads, this is the first time I’m seeing most of these names.

You guys are seeing sponsors? Don’t people use sponsorblock? I’ve never heard of (or seen) half these things.

You would be surprised how many people still watch with the normal YouTube ads, so never mind sponsorsblock. I guess the big tech companies succeeded by dumbing everything down to bite-sized technologies. So many younger people can’t even comprehend the notion of ad blockers. They are basically on the same level as boomers when it comes to tech literacy.

There are some creators who’s content ads have the same effort as the rest of the content. As a heavy ad block user this is the only way for advertisers to reach me and im okay with it.

I’d love to see the YouTube analytics of a handful of really popular videos that have embedded sponsors. Even before the “jump ahead” feature, there must be a massive drop-off of people who just skip five or ten seconds ahead until the sponsor isn’t showing again.
