“You’re asking us to destroy the structure of government and to take away from Congress its ability to protect its idea that the government is better structured with some agencies that are independent,” Sotomayor said.

“What you’re saying is the president can do more than the law permits," Sotomayor said.

That silenced the room, and Sauer hurriedly rephrased some of his earlier arguments in favor of reversing Humphrey.

Stop egging us along like they aren’t going to get what they want. Our courts are corrupt, our institutions are captured, and the politicians are unable to solve the problems of the people because they are fed from the same lines that are harming us. This will not be legislated away in due time. This will not be abaded by chatising judges. The problem is a systemic problem inherent in all capitalist systems. When money ceases to become a utility to facilitate transactions and instead becomes the sole purpose of all transactions then your system has failed. Capitalism will not save us from itself.

The Roman Senate kept up appearances even centuries after they had been rendered completely irrelevant. They kept holding elections. They kept running their influence networks. They kept the illusion going for centuries after the Republic collapsed.

What a load of dramatic bullshit. “silenced the room” while he rephrased his arguments…
