    The eggs that get stolen yeah, but to maintain a profitable population the farmer needs a lot more hens than roosters, so from the eggs that do get fertilized almost half the chicks that hatch get murdered immidiately because they will never be able to lay eggs. Additionally to maximize profits hens that cannot lay eggs (at all or any longer) get killed.

    A chickens life is only worth as much as it’s capatility to lay eggs. As soon as it’s no longer as profitable it gets killed.
