I think that the summary of their opinions right now is that my mom is unsure but open to it while my dad is pretty stubbornly against it.

My dad is not against all trans people. He’s had almost 4 years to come to terms with my intersex trans girlfriend (now fiancé). But he has some pretty transphobic views from the Christian and conservative media he consumed. I think he will probably come around eventually, but it’s a painfully slow process, especially because a lot of it is just waiting for him to read and respond to my messages.

It’s really weighing on my mind a lot these days. I really hope that it will turn out okay, and hopefully sooner than later. Although, at least my girlfriend’s family has been very supportive, so I will have them either way.

It’s great that you get to discuss it! Don’t hold anxiety because of some emotions he has that you cannot control. It’s also possible for it to get worse, so move forward with people that are happy with you. Spend your time and effort almost entirely on the people that you know care. He will come around on his own time; or not. It speaks volumes to what he cares about in the relationship with you if that essential part of you is nonexistent to him. I’m going through something similar, and I think a lot of trans folx do.

Hugs <3 I hope he comes around soon.

When I come across stubbornly wrong people I try to remind myself that it’s not my responsibility to correct their misapprehensions, even when they’re about me.

It’s great that he’s talking to you, anyway. Best wishes to you and your fiancé(e?).
