When watching most shows, movies, whatever from the West, I feel like I’m slamming my head against a wall. There are a few exceptions that are at least better, but seriously. My head hurts because of how mad I am at blatant copaganda. The show was even portraying police in a negative light, but my sometimes-leftist sibling and bootlicker dad were spouting the copaganda. Sibling seems to think the law applies to cops, and Dad can hardly comprehend the US did things like genocide or police brutality. Sure Jim Crow wasn’t that bad, right?? Ugh. And Law and Order SVU trying to pretend law enforcement and ICE aren’t buddy-buddy. Or that those are bad cops, but we’re the good guys. Tell that to your dude who just beat up a man with schizophrenia to get him to confess to a crime he didn’t do, and you just went “Oops. Wrong suspect.”
I know Marvel gets so much hate that it’s cliche and there’s been a counter backlash to the backlash against it, but for fucking real, and it’s a prime example. A lot of media just doesn’t work if you don’t accept the fascist premises on which the stories are built.
I know all these movies are free to watch because piracy exists, but someone would have to be paying me a high hourly wage to sit through them. If I’m going to suffer from being subjected to imperialist slop, then I’d better be getting paid for it.

Basically that theyre childish escapist fantasies that glorify strongmen and masked vigilantes, and that its not a coincidence that superhero movies have been so popular at the same time naked fascism is on the rise in the west (hes directly called superhero movies specifically a “blight on culture”)

The amount of people who seem to consider themselves Soviet history experts because they watched the ‘Chernobyl’ series (or “Enemy at the Gates”, “The Death of Stalin”) is a huge bugbear of mine.
Slap ‘based on a true story’ on anything and people seem to believe their complete nonsense slop is a found-footage documentary. I’m sick of telling so many people people that their favourite fictional “historical” drama (or indeed, even comedy) contains basically zero facts.

I made a Jellyfin server to get my folks to watch something, anything, other than copaganda because if they just turn on the tv and go to basically any channel the only things that are on are sports or copaganda.
And the sports are also full of military propaganda 🙃
Watch Infinity Train. The only cops in that show are explicitly villainous, and season 2 has a white guy slowly learn that lesson and how to stand up for his nonbinary friend.
