So Davy Jones and Joyboy were different people based on what Rocks said here. And if Davy Jones was the previous “King of the World”, what does that make Joyboy?

I really hope we don’t have any more big biological family lore drops. Not that the Franky/Queen connection really impacts anything in the story aside from Franky’s origin, but I just don’t think we need to know this stuff.
Joyboy was considered the first pirate no? I think the relationship between Luffy and Blackbeard may mirror the relationship between Joyboy and Davy, literary foils of each other who couldn’t succeed in liberating the world from Imu in the past.
He was! If we assume Davy Jones was the in the same time period that means he followed Joyboy in becoming a pirate. Maybe the One Piece is something that gives someone dominion over the world that had to be stolen (why pirates are so pivotal to finding it) and Davy and Imu used it to become “King of the World”. Blackbeard wants “the world”, same as Rocks, and Luffy wants to become the pirate king to become the most free and since Joyboy was Nika I think we can guess he wanted the same thing as well.
