    But it’s it going to run Google Play Services? I feel like not running that would effectively make Amazon’s tablet its own fork.

      Kittyhawk tablets would use an open-source version of Android, allowing Amazon to avoid direct coordination with Google while still enabling access to a much broader range of apps.

          Honestly, yeah. Based on this article the pitch is, “What if FireOS were successful?”

          This is an even harder problem today versus when FireOS first launched. The number of things that are now part of Google Play Services versus Android has only increased over the years.

          Yeah, sounds like it’s just a closer to AOSP version which makes it easier for devs to support.
