Hello everyone. Hope you all have had a good weekend. This week I was away from home so I was only occasionally playing Balatro on my phone. After I post this though I am planning on getting some Nightreign in. Hope everyone has a good week!
I started playing Blue Prince. It’s a puzzle game where you have inherited your uncle’s 45-room mansion, but only if you can find the 46th room in it. And every day, the layout changes.
At the start it’s kinda like a map building roguelike where you pick which room is behind each door from a few choices, and try to gather resources and explore further, but that’s barely scratching the surface.
This puzzle goes so deep. I have a journal full of clues, in-game books that I have copied in hopes that there are more clues, pages with in-depth descriptions of every room, family trees, weird interactions that I haven’t fully figured out yet… There’s all sorts of lore about this fictional world that I have been writing down just in case. I don’t even know how deep this mystery goes, but I hope to be well-armed when I finally do.
It’s the first game that’s scratched the same itch that Outer Wilds does, where you occasionally discover something that forces you to reevaluate everything you saw before, but it’s much harder. Also the in-game notekeeping is incredibly limited so you really need to keep your own journal to play.
I really want to play this game but my understanding is that as it goes longer your sessions can also get long, and there’s no way to save mid session. So if you finally figure something out AND get the random stuff you need to actually complete a puzzle…and then have to stop for life reasons…tough shit hope you get lucky again another time.
I’m excited for this game but they have to fix that first.
This has definitely been my experience yeah.
That is absolutely an issue later on, it’s not a game that works on short sessions. I don’t think this is necessarily a big problem, but it is something that one needs to be mindful of.
And it would be better if you could suspend/continue runs.
Tried the Battlefield 6 beta. It was my first time playing a big AAA multiplayer FPS in a long time. Had to go out of my way to enable Secure Boot in order to install EA’s anticheat rootkit.
Absolutely terrible experience. Everything about it feels like a downgrade from the older entries (Bad Company, 3 and 4). The horrible Netflix UI, the muddy graphics, the total lack of game balancing.
I am fully
on modern AAA gaming. I pray that '83 will come out eventually and be decent.
Love the “outsider” perspective 'cause I thought it was neat. I do have a soft spot for Battlefield but it was so much better than V and even 1.
Still not done with Abiotic Factor which i probably won’t be able to finish before i go back to work next week
it’s still been fun but I DO NOT APPRECIATE the devs FORCING ME to SWIM through a DARK AND SCARY RESERVOIR WITH A BIG FUCKING SHARK THING IN IT in order to progress through the storyline. I didn’t even see the fucking thing but it was hard enough finding this fucked to death underwater tunnel i needed to get into as it was and I couldn’t force the people playing it with me to do it for me because they couldn’t find the fucking tunnel!
Have thalassophobia? fuck you, get in the water shithead
Played some Kiwami 2
it’s alright starting to connect some points in this game that the ps2 game just went over my head like the 2 kazukis. Playing this game again but dragon engine is bit of a trip after so long
finally finished Cyberpunk 2077!
Hades 2
Steamwebhelper is anti-gamer aktion and preventing me from playing anything. I guess I’ll play Minecraft instead
Warframe double XP weekend, I have spent all my forma on Tenet and Kuva weapons. Been grinding out Sisters of Parvos, only 4 weapons left to get (really 3, since I already have an active sister with 1 of them). Finally got one with the Toxic ephemera, hooray.
Still have 15 Kuva weapons to grab once I’m done though
Nothing good lately. Been doing a replay of legend of dragoon on pc, via the ‘severed chains’ decompile project. it does a great job. But just playing it slowly when i’m really bored and have nothing else to do.
Also played through another disappointing vic3 run, this time with the ‘Tech and Res’ mod. Its fun to play an extended timeline, but the mod author has no proper education or focus. A lot of the stuff is super random and adds absolutely nothing to the experience. Also super buggy and unbalanced. This is on top of Vic 3 being completely unplayable past 1870, performance wise.
Still on an NES tear, working through Battletoads and Metal Storm. I must be getting a lot better at these games, because Battletoads seems only kinda hard to me.
Also hopped on the BF6 beta, and had a bit of fun. I’m not convinced that this is in any way an improvement over BF3, but I guess it’s what the kids will be playing.
Doing another playthrough of Monster Sanctuary. Still holds up as a monster battler today. Cheap retraining items and level scaling options mean that it’s relatively quick to train up new monsters and try out new builds, and the mechanics are diverse but interconnected enough that there’s all kinds of synergies you can go for.
I’m looking forward to their next game. Monster sanctuary was good
Back on my bullshit with War Thunder and actually enjoying it a lot! I can’t imagine what it is like for new players these days but I know that I’m lucky to have a nearly decade old account lol. Russia has a very strong 5.0 ground RB lineup and the KV-85 is my current hotness. Other than that Ive been playing Valheim with a friend of mine and that’s been a blast!
I’ve started my first survival play through of Fallout 4 VR. Survival is a completely different game. Much slower pace. Things you would just walk past without any second thought in a regular play through are crucially important items to pick up. Settlements are also crucial homes to rest, get water, and eat.
I did mod it so I can quick save and fast travel, though. I have only precious few hours to play during the week so I refuse to let some bullshit rob me of my gaming time.
So far it’s been awesome.
Still kicking through Dying Light 2. It’s a very okay game, sometimes it’s really fun and sometimes it’s abysmal and sloggish. I’m at the tail-end of it though, so I can scratch it off my backlog soon!
I just got the point of no return warning for Alan Wake 2 so now I gotta track down at least the nursery rhymes. Don’t really care for the cult stashes I don’t think, since two of them bugged out for me.
Also the first bit sucks as per combat gameplay, staying true to form, but then the dark place sucks the entire way through as per combat gameplay which is odd to me since CONTROL is the most best gameplay video game I’ve ever played
