Funny, right? What kind of an idiot would do that?

Me
I’m the idiot that did that. Thankfully, some seniors sent me this year’s calendar; so I have missed class only for the first week, and will appear from the second.
I’ve been out of college for 10+ years and I still have nightmares like this
There’s something special about academic schedules where they can just burrow in and give you nightmares for decades
I was just about to post this same comment, lmao
I still have nightmares about forgetting to do an entire semester’s worth of assignments
In my last semester I may or may not have had a class that I never attended but was intensely stressed about the final exam since I’d never seen a whit of material. I graduated without it somehow and in recent years have started to suspect it was never real and was just a persistent nightmare I’d have where I’d look at a schedule and see I missed the class.
I absolutely had this same experience. Love to see a shared psychosis 😅
When I went back to school I didn’t even know that my application had been accepted until I received a notice that said my tuition was past due.
Search on all platforms loves to bring up old events like this. Class timetable? Here’s last year’s. Music festival? You mean from 2023, of course. Some annual event where tickets to the current one are on sale RIGHT NOW? You obviously want the archived page from years ago.
I don’t know if it’s some SEO shit because the old page has been around for longer but this happens a lot.
I have not done this specific thing, but it’s totally the kind of thing I would do
The important thing is that you know now, and it’s not like you do much besides administrative stuff and a course overview in the first week, anyhow. Good luck with your classes—you got this!
I had a last minute change of schedule for one of my finals. I didn’t read the email from the professor when he made the change, and only became aware of it the literal morning of the day of the exam. I was a hair away from failing that class, which would’ve set me back on a bunch of other important classes in my curriculum.
Still get nightmares about it years later.
Hey, look on the bright side, soon you’ll be a local urban legend. You’ll be walking down the corridor one day and overhear some saying “I heard someone got the wrong schedule and missed the first week of classes” to their friends.
I used to have nightmares about a phantom class I never attended. like in the nightmare I would “realize” that I had been accidentally cutting some class and not doing any of its assignments all semester and now I was fucked.
I was a non trad students at this point, so like I was 30, had straight As, strong extracurriculars, multiple friends across the program, independent study crap, and all that optional reading, volunteering, try hard BS. basically all as a way to keep my head always in the game and accountable.
but I would still wake up in visceral terror that somehow I had completely fucked myself with some ghost class.
still loved school and would take classes forever if I had the spare executive function/time/$ lmao.
the worse school dreams for me were the ones where I gave some eloquent update at a committee meeting for my research only to wake up and realize days later that this had not happened and I would need to organize my thoughts and go over it all “again”. my least favorite part of school.
I have done that before and I can’t count the amount of times I have done something like that before
