A local theater/brewery here did that a couple years ago and it was great. If you’re gonna butcher the film, you might as well just go ask the way.

~~I think they’re creating a small 3D set, tracking it to match the camera of the film, and then masking the characters to layer over the 3D scene. It’s not wholly AI generated, but there has to be some AI tools for the tracking and the compositing. They are probably also generating images/frames for characters to make them look more 3D so it doesn’t just seem like images pasted over something 3D. ~~
