Nothing can convince me that these people who leave their countries to go fight in an imperialist foreign army are not inherently suicidal. I saw it a bunch in the lead-up to Ukraine and the reddit brigades who all got blown up because they couldn’t leave their gps-tracked phones behind. People were going to Ukraine and being interviewed at the airport, like, “I have five kids at home in the US, but I think they’ll be fine without me, when I’m gone…” and just letting that trail off. Not that my loathing for these capitalist military apparatuses could be any greater, but it is a special kind of scumbag move to be recruiting these people who are already troubled and churning them through the horror flesh mill because your own citizens have to spend all day reading Torah or partying in Miami and couldn’t be bothered to do any fighting themselves.

There is a layer of irony. The person who signs up to fight in someone else’s army wants to die but does not want to be perceived to die like a coward. Big fail in that aspect.

It would have been so much better for everyone if this guy had just stayed in fucking Norway.
