I can now no longer tell people to skip Long Ring Long Land
LRLL gets so much hate because the one piece anime made it so long with extra filler games and even did a second foxy filler arc.
In One Pace, LRLL is like 1-2 episodes and it’s paced extremely well, usopp, nami, robin -> zoro and sanji -> luffy vs. foxy and it foreshadows the crew being torn apart later in Water 7. Also Aokiji was supposed to be on the island as the post-arc treat but Toei fucked it up and put him on another island which made the arc seem even more like filler.
By the second Foxy arc it definitely felt like they were gonna be used as the One Piece filler Team Rocket.
The anime also kinda screwed up the tone of the boxing match. The manga made it feel like Luffy was a little more on the ropes and the anime was just cartoony.
