Distrowatch popularity is a pointless metric. IIRC they measure clicks on their own site as popularity. That means that people that just want to check out that distro near the top that they never heard of actually ensure that it stays near the top.

Warum liest man über die Altmark eigentlich nur solche dumme scheiße?
How’s /e/os? Last time I tried it was after the FP4 release up until lineage OS supported it. Back then I absolutely hated it. They tried to imitate iOS so hard they even copied their shortcomings. Like not having widgets for example. To make matters worse they even took perfectly fine Open Source apps like Etar calendar and patched out the widget support as well… Absolutely bonkers move. Ditched it as soon as Lineage for MicroG was available and am still using that on my FP4 to this day. The same Google free experience, but saner (IMO).
How is the OS years later?
Some interesting distro choices to be found in there. I didn’t realize CachyOS was so popular
RISC-V could be a lot better supported then. But I don’t think a lifetime this long would work for the Deck. 7 years is nearly as long as the Switch 1, but that device had the benefit of being a platform in itself with no alternative (as in there are no other switch-compatible-devices). This forces the devs to target it, no matter what performance or fidelity they might wish for.
The Steam Deck might feel a lot like a console, but in the end it is just a PC and the PC gaming world isn’t going to wait for Valves next device. The game-tech will just move on past the steam decks capabilities and a lot of gamers will leave it behind and move to other SteamOS (or windows) compatible hardware. The Deck would still have a lot of value as an indie gaming machine, though.
What’s the source on the VR headset being ARM based? I must have missed that
Absolutely 0 chance as current RISC-V chips are dog slow and inefficient. Currently RISC-V is only really used in microcontrollers and everything else is highly experimental.
This has got to be baNaNa
Witzig.
California Condor was founded in 2021 as a follow-up to Illumenium (formerly “Defrage”), producing cheap rock music CDs under their band name to be sold by real or fake band members in pedestrian areas and parking lots all over western europe.
By pretending to be a band and selling their CDs the people behind the project avoid the anti-begging restrictions of many western european countries. The name change from “Illumenium” to “California Condor” is said to have happened after “Illumenium” had a bad press and police reputation for their aggressive street begging.
Since 2023, their CDs appear to be sold under the band name “Defrage Reload”.
Wieso deutet der Name Leo auf eine progressive Richtung?
I have no clue why telegram is often mentioned when it comes to “privacy focused messaging”. They don’t even have e2e encrypted group chats. Only 1:1 chats may be encrypted as an opt-in. Even WhatsApp is more secure than that, since they use signals encryption.
Also the “we don’t give out even a byte of data to anyone” statements made by telegram have been thoroughly debunked as lies. When telegrams bottom line is in danger, they have and will give out your data.
What makes them homophobic?
27GB/s is faster than DDR4 RAM.
There is no real YouTube alternative, unfortunately. The content makes a video platform great. No alternative video platform is anywhere close to YouTube in content diversity.
It’s unfortunately a very different situation to most other things. For example you can “simply” convince your circle of friends to use Threema. Try convincing your favorite Youtubers to post on any alternative platform and see how far you get.
I’ll definitely give it a spin, but that many features is a red flag IMO.
