In short, this is some BS tweet (and blatant propaganda) that seemingly has no actual science backing it.

Firstly, no source was provided to back up his claim about female suicide rates. The Statista link from this comment suggests that he is talking out of his ass.

Secondly, that alone would not have been enough to establish a causative relation (no fault divorce => less female suicides). Because correlation does not equal causation.

  • Although that would be a win, European alternatives are not much better in terms of privacy. If that’s something you’re looking forward to.

Pretty much all methods of online payment require you to give away your identity in the name of fighting “money laundering” and terrorism (Israel doesn’t count). You have a system where the government is constantly trying to reach its tentacles into everything that has to do with finance. The current European payment services are an important part in facilitating that control. A new European debit/credit card is not going to change that.

  • Commercial/state-enforced AI crawlers overburdening services and forcing admins to increase cost and time spent dealing with these DDoS attacks is much closer to theft than the piracy itself. Piracy doesn’t make people lose money, AI crawlers do.

If I host a website for the general public, I’m not paying money for 200 foreign AI crawlers to consume most of the bandwidth and CPU and leave legit users, whom I created the website for, with scraps. Even Wikipedia is feeling it.

Many AI crawlers are immoral for other reasons as well, especially when we are talking about companies (Meta, Google) or states (CCP) doing it who are known for corporating with intelligence/defense or are engaged in human rights abuses.

Turning this discussion to be about piracy is imo a distraction.

    Tate doesn’t.

He never said he supported Tate.

He also never said misandry should be countered with misogyny.

He pointed out that misandry is the other side of the same coin as misogyny, maybe so that you can see the issue with OPs gender war slop.

His position has been consistently that both are bad.

    Don’t straw man him.

  • Hopefully they will find better jobs with better employers.

For everyone who uses Windows, try Linux. Don’t be scared to try something new, most things that are worthwhile come with some sacrifice. Sometimes, if we don’t leave our comfort zone, we miss out.

I will provide a small guide, but there are tons of resources on the internet.

See the ranking on the right hand side here: https://distrowatch.com/ You can pick something from there on the top of the list.

Watch YouTube to learn more about each Linux distro that you find interesting.

I personally would recommend Ubuntu or Ubuntu-based distros, as they have the widest support.

You don’t have to wipe your Windows-installation completely, instead you can dual-boot. This allows you to pick Windows or Linux when you start your computer. If you feel comfortable switching entirely, you can wipe out Windows and keep Linux exclusively.

Just be careful when you partition your drive, don’t accidentally overwrite your Windows installation (if that’s not what you want to do). Make a backup copy of your most important files on a separate external drive before the installation.
