Self Proclaimed Internet user and Administrator of Reddthat
Thanks! And technically yes, but if/when we move to the dedicated server we will have a lot more processing power and resources available.
If I also spun up the piefed instance, I’d be getting more admins and maybe asking people if they wanted to admin on it as well to help me.
To alleviate the possible problems with moderation I was thinking that if I made it paid only/yearly subscription the cross section of people who would actually want to pay and who want a piefed instance would be very small. I’m thinking $5/m. (Or whatever your local coffee amount is).
I was thinking of making it paid because if people end up posting images and videos it gets costly fast. Even now we are on a very cheap plan with our storage but it slowly is ever increasing and in 3 years I expect it to the same as our server bills.
This could be the semi-paid version of Reddthat and to ensure that we would stay online for as long as possible.
These are ideas that I’ve been toying with in my head.
Yep! No one’s sent any crypto recently and nothing in Ko-Fi either. Not since the closure of Open collective at least. So I haven’t included them.
I think you ended up posting the wrong link? It has 404’d
This might be another bug relating to federation, but might also be relating to caching on their end. Or because every Lemmy application keeps their own archive, it’s possible the user display name doesn’t federate on a change but only on a post that they can see? (Or not at all, or only on a timed refresh?)
Lets check after 24/48 hours on those links and we’ll see what they say after that.
I too think it’s possibly a software bug rather than a cache issue. We don’t cache anything if you are signed in, and if it was a cache issue it would show both of the old names on the page rather than only one changing.
All of the recurring payments with OC are disabled. So no need to worry!
Thank you! Yes, very lucky. Now we need to build up our recurring donations all over again which will be hard, but I have faith in us all.
We now have goals under liberapay and Kofi and if we hit either of them we’ll be sorted!
Good news! We managed to get all of the donation money! So none of it is lost and we’re back in business! 🎉🎉
It seems our host decided to come back online or see our messages? Still no communication from them, but now that we have completed managed to get all our money back we are good to migrate to Librapay without any issues!
Thanks a heap! Here’s to another year!
Yeah it certainly does feel bad! As it’s all of our money and I never thought this would happen. Contacting Open collective is a good idea, I’ll do that this month to see what can happen.
Thank you for being a part of it!
🥰 Thank you! You are amazing.
It has now been over 2 years since I started Reddthat. I’ve learnt a lot. Met tonnes of new people, and contributed to the fediverse as a whole. I couldn’t have done it without you all and am amazed every day another donation comes in, or a nice message gets left as a comment on these updates. You are all amazing.
Here’s to 20 more years!

Looks easy : https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Steam+Deck+SSD+Replacement/148989
Edit: Is it worth 30-60minutes of your time, the screwdrivers, maybe the spatchula, and reinstalling steamOS onto the drive?
Mmmmmmm, I’m triggering PW resets anyway.
🥳🥰 Thanks!
😆😆
🎉🎉🎉 Every little bit counts!
You can block instances yourself. Check your Settings then click the Block tab, then enter in the domain under Block Instance.
Defederating has wider ramifications and just because there are a few bad users or opinions people don’t like doesn’t mean that everyone should be blocking them.
We have a few of those users too who regularly get into fights or who might be classed as mean, so if that’s the case then we would be blocked too.
Standards that one server has cannot be enforced by another server.
Also no dog-piling onto this thread which I’ll be locking if it happens.
Haha! Well it’s 1TB for local storage which for all intents and purposes is unlimited. As if Reddthat’s database grows to more than that all of the bigger instances will probably be 10x that size!.
For our object storage we’ve already grown to 2TB of images and videos so even if we had purchased this when we started and didn’t use an object storage we would have already surpassed it greatly!
