  • I couldn’t agree more. I tried getting into WoW back then and remember it just didn’t compare to Guild Wars.

I loved the different builds you could make and then later on when they introduced heroes you got to play around with builds and their synergies with each other in a more in depth form. The whole thing is just unmatched in my eyes.

I can also never forget the in engine cut scenes which supplied some moments of gold like Rurik surveying the chart advance whilst staring at a wall that was twice his size as the character model couldn’t see over it.

Guild Wars 2 is just a generic MMO in the world of Guild Wars :(

  • I bought this on release after being a massive Guild Wars 1 fan. I have tried 5 or 6 times to get into it but I just can’t, it just isn’t guild wars to me.

The first time I absolutely hated it because I thought I was going to be playing a similar game just improved and updated and it is so different I couldn’t stand it. Since then I have tried to get into it with a more open mind knowing I wouldn’t be getting a game that plays the same as GW1 but it just never sticks for me and I find it boring within around 10 - 15 hours.

If they made a remastered GW1 I would buy that shit in a heartbeat, just no other MMO has hit the same for me :(

  • My apologies no it isn’t a type of food there, it is naughty in the terms of being indulgent or impulsive and is more of a turn of phrase that is often used in “lad culture” over here, which is sort of like a parallel to a “frat bro” in US culture. Think obnoxious, loud sometimes aggressive groups of guys.

Cheeky in this sense was in the past more often used in terms of alcoholic beverages so often people would use it to say things like “Do you fancy getting a cheeky pint after work”. More modern usage it is often used to refer to food as well as drink and in the case of “cheeky nandos” will quite often be used by aforementioned “lads” when they have already had a few drinks and want to go and indulge in some chicken before going out and getting shit faced for the night.

Tldr: It is a turn of phrase used to mean indulging in an impulsive meal from the restaurant chain “Nandos”

  • Translation:

It is hard to explain my friend.

It is as if one day you’ll be with your friends, browsing in JD Sports (sports shop) and you fancy a curry from the “curry club” menu at Wetherspoons (a nationwide chain of drinking establishments that serve “pub” style food).

However your friend who is male, called Callum, who is also an absolute legend and the epitome of banter (friendly and humerous conversation of a non-serious manner) will say “Brethren (an old fashioned way of referring to a friend you consider a brother) let’s have a naughty Nandos (a chain restaurant that specialises in Peri Peri style chicken) instead”

Consequently you will think “Most excellent, let’s go there and excel at the process of ordering and eating food”

  • Thanks for this post, there are some good racing games out there for sure, however I can’t recommend JDM at all.

I played the demo early last year and have been eagerly awaiting the release this year. They pushed back the release date from March this year to improve things further which I thought was a good sign but ultimately once it has landed it is just not enjoyable. The car and modification selections are great as are the visuals but the handling model is just fucking shite. I tried playing it for around 5 hours and it is just not enjoyable to actually play.

Another one worth checking out is the new Tokyo Xtreme Racer game. This is more a highway racer that is still in EA, the gameplay loop is OK although it can get a bit boring for me personally and it definitely needs some improvements in the handling and physics as well as the balance but it is still in active development and I will keep an eye on it.

Also good is Nightrunners. This is also a highway racing game but made by one dev. It is stylised to look like a late 90s vhs and the modification options are fucking amazing. Again this is still in development but is definitely worth a look if you like JDM cars!
