Couldn’t agree more. After moving states and deciding to switch careers, I had a 15 month under-employed lull and got desperate enough to attend a job fair held in the delapidated basement room is a hotel. Not just one of the most depressing experiences of my life, but a total waste of everyone’s time. Bank teller, security guard, or food service were the only options.
I ended up getting a job the old fashioned way* (had my dad who owns a dealership call in a favor).
My advice - have your dad who owns a dealership call in a favor. If that doesn’t work (maybe your dad doesn’t own a dealership), then I recommend looking for work in public or private infrastructure - utility and telecom companies tend to pay well and union benefits are great
My dad owning a dealership is a joke. The old fashioned way in this case was applying to enough jobs that one was willing to hire me at about 50% of what my previous job paid

Been watching an episode of Monk a day for a few months now. It’s a delight
That’s in the Bible
Trump watching Satanyahu and realizing, “oh, you can just do it. Be evil openly and kill innocents by the thousands. When you’re a president, the let you do it. You can do anything.”

Cop City is the homework.
It’s coming.
I read through his wiki entry and didn’t notice anything of import except he made a bunch of flop movies and then he married a personal trainer 40 years younger than him
My smarter-than-average libs were sharing that article last week and were all fully convinced by it
Just found out that “the world’s poorest president”, Jose Mujica from Uruguay, was an avowed Marxist guerrilla who was tortured and imprisoned for 14 years during the military dictatorship years. I first heard about him when Reddit fawned over him donating his presidential salary and driving his '87 vw beetle from his farm to work every day. Somehow they didn’t mention how his ideological beliefs made him such a down to earth guy. He died a few months ago. Rip to a real one
Besides passive glance at headlines, I haven’t followed the story closely at all. Here’s the Rolling Stone exposé for anyone who has some catching to to do (published 05/2024)
Has the future always seemed so grim? Is anyone looking forward to it? Aren’t we supposed to?

Those who make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable. May the Egyptian government get what it deserves. Thank you for posting this, Mahmoud.
I have never downloaded and shared a video so fast
As a resident of [city in 2020 headlines] haha
