Windows Sound Recorder was an intermediate step for me, when I left my modest gear behind and was basically homeless. All I had access to was a library computer and the crappy headphones they had and no microphone, but I really wanted to create SOMETHING. I’m proud that I could make some really simple, lo-fi, ambient stuff with just a paperclip in the mic jack and the wide array of processing options that WSR has (adjust volume, add echo). It’s such an uphill-both-ways kind of story, though.

My advice is to try faceapp on the same picture, once feminizing and once masculinizing to get an idea of what it’s doing. I also tried it on the dog and on a baby. It gives very stereotypical features of whatever variety you ask it. Understand that it’s just a toy. It’s just a toy, but it’s also a little dangerous because it promises a falsehood that someone in the throes of dysphoria is susceptible to putting their hope in.

Seems like not a real programming paradigm, and I don’t mean in a No True Scotsman way. It really is in a separate category of thing. Could’ve said logic programming or stack-oriented programming.

I’m really loving the last one there. Somehow “shots” is their preferred unit of measure. Most cookies don’t have any liquid ingredients, either, so milk is kind of a wild addition. Then they blame the recipe for being chunky, which I assume is due to the banana that they did a shit job of mashing. The cherry on top is that there is a rating out of five stars at the top (looks like they gave five stars?), but then they throw in a rating out of ten at the bottom. Should have given a thumbs up rating, but I assume the thumbs are busy in their ass.

I’ve played with the app a bit. The gender setting does a lot of subtle stuff like changing your face shape ever-so-slightly. I think it’s kind of worth trying both directions, just to see how it will try and make you more conventionally attractive. Masc me was very rugged and had a very good beard, and femme me had bigger eyes, smoother skin, and pinker lips. It’s uncanny and freaky, but it gave me a better perspective on what the app is actually doing. The positive side is that it’s helped me think about how to do hair, makeup, and eyebrows.
