Fair point. Ideally there is a public collaboration of (art) institutions that helps resolving questions like that first on an international level and then locally. Right?? Every time I see one of these comics I get that “hmmm yes, quite the art piece my fellow smart people” vibe like I’m staring at some famous painting in a gallery that everybody else seems to get but me, having a minor existential crisis about it.
Thats a great question and to be completely honest, I’m not sure! I am fluent in Dutch and English, but not in German. So I’m not fully qualified to answer that haha. I can still understand part of German though, some works are just so similar in all three languages.

This method reminds me of a technique used in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to deal with pain or fear. Exaggerating a thought or giving it a silly voice or character, while staying neutral toward that part of yourself, can be a solid way to manage anxiety.
It’s called cognitive defusion. You notice when you’re “fused” with a thought or pattern, and by using techniques like the one you mentioned, you create distance between the thought and your sense of self.

Yeah I know but didn’t want to assume. Some people have family roots for example. I do work with US colleagues and not all feel the need to move countries for example, which I find very interesting because it sure looks like a shit show to me. I’m not based in the US myself.
Out of interest, since moving continents is no small matter in my opinion; what makes that, and making a third in terms of salary vs the US, a worthwhile trade-off?
